Ok, i know this is an oldish problem but I need help. I downloaded fallout 3 GOTY on steam a few days ago and it just crashes on the loading screen when I start a new game. I have windows 7. I am not a computer whizz and according to DxDiag I have these system... things

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.120503-2030)
Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
System Manufacturer: Compaq-Presario
System Model: VS273AA-ABU CQ5226UK
BIOS: BIOS Date: 11/27/09 14:17:53 Ver: 5.09
Processor: Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5300 @ 2.60GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.6GHz
Memory: 2048MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 2014MB RAM
Page File: 1813MB used, 2212MB available
Windows Dir: C:\Windows
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
DX Setup Parameters: Not found
User DPI Setting: Using System DPI
System DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent)
DWM DPI Scaling: Disabled

I don't know if this is relevent, i just want to give as much info as I can.
I have visited many forums with different fixes and heres what i tried:

Editing the fallout.ini file thingy with the bUseThreadedAI=1 iNumwhatever it was = 2
changing the compatability in the application.exe file in pretty much every way, including run in compatability mode.

any other fixes? help! I paid for this game, I would very much like to play it.

cheers

What's your GPU? *sigh* Dxdiag sucks at getting system information.

Anyway shouldn't need to edit the core affinity seeing as you're already on the maximum of 2 cores. Personally, I would have disabled the Steam overlay and add a crack (I wouldn't recommend this while on Steam).
