Okay, I'm not comparing the two, I'm just wondering which one to get. I have 60 bucks to spare and I want to get one of these, so which one?

I have Fallout 3 already but I want to know if the DLC is worth the extra money and I'm not big on multiplayer (at all) so is Borderlands still good for strictly single player?

EDIT: I have PS3 so I can't just get DLC.

Do you have friends on Live who have Borderlands?

(Yes) = Get Borderlands.
(No) = Get Fallout 3 DLC.

You say you're not big on multiplayer, you'll change your mind when you play borderlands. Its no PvP, its Co-op in the best possible way.

Borderlands. And no, the DLC is good, but not that good. Broken steel and the yukon one was good, not so much the others.

They are near completely different games, so comparing them is rather silly I must say...

The only thing they have in common is that they are both in a Apocalyptic esk area, and you level up by shooting shit. Other then that they are completely different.

Fallout 3 if you like RPGs more.

Borderlands if you have friends with the game/like shooters more.

Feh. I'd pass on both under those circumstances. Just buy the DLC, in fact, and put the leftover money towards something like Mass Effect 2.

the FO3 DLC are worth it if you want to add another hour or 3 I dont have Borderlands so I dont know if its any good (P.S. if you have the PC version this is the ONLY way to get the Mother Ship Zetta DLC)

If you have three other guys lined up to play Borderlands then probably that.

But if you are wanting single player fun go for the DLC. It's new, interesting and is pretty darn cool. Plus it adds like ~20 hours to the game.

That too. They are very, very different games no matter what people say about them both having RPG/Shooter elements in a vaguely futuristic apocolypse. Borderlands is one helluva lot lighter and zanier.

I have Borderlands for PC and I beat the campaign by myself and it was quite enjoyable. I would recomend Borderlands on the basis that the dlc for Fallout 3 really isn't all that great. While I haven't played the dlc myself I have read reviews for all of them and watched friends play them and only Point Lookout and maybe The Pitt seem to be at all worth your money.

I would say Borderlands on principle alone. If you are spending 60 bucks on a game I wouldn't buy the same game you already own with some new content.

Get borderlands! But dont get its DLC. I just finished it, not worth the money.
I loved it. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. The length was reasonable and if it wasn't for the brains quest (and the fact that it counted only for the amount you needed, any extras were wasted) it would have been perfect.

Both, they are great games that it would suck if you missed out on either.

Typically, GOTY applies to games that were, you know, actually released that year.

Fallout 3 wasn't released in 2009.

I don't really see what that has to do with the discussion here, there is a GOTY edition of Fallout that comes with the DLC, what does the year have to do with anything?

Borderlands is ok without multiplayer. The multiplayer really brings it together and it's just co-op. If you already have Fallout 3, then don't go off spending another 60 bucks for the DLC.

If you're doing it for the RPG, go for Fallout 3. If you're doing it for the FPS, go for Borderlands.

My bad. Though I often malign other forum posters for not bothering to read my messages, all I did here was read the header, which sounds like "Is Fallout 3 the game of the year or is Borderlands?"
