Hey guys,

I just bought Fallout 3 GOTY from a retailer, I've got a physical boxed copy with 2 CDs and a nice manual it it.

Is there any way I can like this to my steam account? The game didn't come with and serial numbers that I can find, except for something that might be on a sticker on the manual.

probably not have it set up on steam, but you can add any EXE file to your steam library so that you can launch it through steam. It won't automatically patch it (although if you manually patch Fallout 3, I'm pretty sure there won't be another official patch), and you won't be able to download it from steam if you have to reformat or whatever. But you can run it from your steam library list.

This.

Fallout 3 is not a game that you can "activate" on Steam when purchased from a different retailer. As Altorin said, you can still add it to your list of Steam games. Achievements are handled through Games For Windows Live, and I think you have to log into GFWL in order to save your game, too.

You do not have to log in to GFWL for your save games. Also, the DLC content disc takes fucking forever to install

Huh, I seem to remember not being allowed to save until I logged in. Interesting. Anyway, that's good.

You can also link your GFWL account to your XBL account and get achievements for Fallout 3 twice!

And, if you're really unsporting, a simple console commands can get you all those precious chievos. Personally, I don't care enough to figure out the achievement ID for the one achievement I couldn't finish (finding ingots in the Pitt).

Thanks for that. Much appreciated :)
