After playing(and finishing) Operation Anchorage, I noticed the first "mission"(Guns of Anchorage) seemed Call of Duty-esque in terms of location and objectives. i.e. You start parachuting down, proceed along the cliff, kill some Communist soldiers with silenced weapons, walk over to a snowy outpost, switch to loud assault rifle gun play, continue along through some caves, exit out and place explosives on some artillery cannons, blow them up, mission complete. Did anyone else notice the similarities? I know it was before Modern Warfare 2, but this starting mission really set you up for a great DLC.(Not like Cliffhanger, which set you up for disappointment)

Also, thanks to all the people who commented on my last thread: "Fallout 3 help". Level 25 with Winterized Combat Armor and Gauss Rifle in the Capital Wasteland rocks.

The gameplay was kind of plain compared to the other DLCs(which I haven't played yet)

The Pitt- You're a slave in Pittsburgh! Play with the Auto Axe!
Point Lookout- Play in the swampy bayous of souteastern America!
Mothership Zeta- Escape an alien space ship!
Operation Anchorage- Command a squad in the snow and shoot people?

Broken Steel doesn't count.

it could be, but being that Fallout 3 was out before MW2 its most likely that MW2 thought it would be a cool idea as well, its not really anything bad just similar combat areas.

OPA was meant to be an action heavy DLC, it has become quite unpopular for that reason as FO3s audience for the most part are rpg heavy gamers. Not my favourite DLc but it is the one i seem to repeat most often as i love the guass rifle.

I guess its not too bad for a bit of mindless fun, its short and sweet which is good.

The glitches you can do on it are cool like reverse pickpoketing jigwei for his outfit or glitching out of the zone and finding the fabled unused smoke grenades.

The stuff you get after completing it makes it more worth it though. The stealth suit is so good it can potentually change the way you play the game and that's not even mentioning the awesomeness that is the gauss rifle.

Roaming around in infinite HP armor and weapon(s) isn't so bad either.

Yeah the only good thing about OA was the winterized armor.
?! The Gauss Rifle?!

Seriously, no other weapon is needed once you get that baby. It can knock Super Mutants off of their feet.

To gauge the other DLCs, what would OPA be compared to them?
Better than Zeta, but worse than the rest in my opinion. Not including all the snazzy gear you get from it anyway. I loved that stuff but didn't enjoy the rest of it very much at all.

The Gauss Rifle knocks Behemoths off their feet.(I tried it on the caged one in Evergreen Mills.) Was Zeta that bad?

As a Mission/DLC no. It just doesn't feel like Fallout due to the setting in my opinion, simply put, it feels out of place. Although I did still enjoy it overall, I don't use any of the weapons outside of it because they don't "fit".

Can't wait for Point Lookout then. Lots of cover and lever-action rifles that use my butt-load of 10mm rounds.
