I just played and completed Operation Anchorage, and it was by far the best DLC I have ever played. The environments were amazing, awesomely detailed, the story was cool, and it was awesome using all the gear. And finally, I got to wear a set of armor that made me look badass...

My question to the community is, do you think it would be cool to have a game chronicling the Great War? And fight in a few of the battles, etc? Because I'd love to be an American soldier fighting against the Chinese and see what happened in the events leading up to the nuclear proliferation.

... wow that's actually not a totally terrible idea... i mean the RPG element might need to be revised as there's not going to be any places to loot or super mutants...

It'd be interesting as a spin-off, but the whole point of Fallout is that it's set post-Armageddon (as the name would imply).

It would be cool but it wouldn't be fallout anymore. no more free-roaming, killing anyone you want, stealing everything that's not tied down... It wouldn't work in a world where there's still a full society and stuff like police and an army. besides, soldiers don't usually get to do whatever they want. not realistically anyway. though it seems kindof weird to call fallout 'realistic'.

Tell me that O:A was the only DLC you've played.

O:A is regarded as the second worst due to glitchiness and it being linear.
It might be linear. But i never encountered any glitches.

OT:That is an idea that i would personally enjoy.Seeing as how O:A is my second favorite DLC for FO.

I can rattle off two easy.

The Gauss Rifle is completely broken in VATS. It does about half the usual damage, and critical hits won't do any damage at all.

Second, the Winter T-51b Armor has an item HP stat of 10 million, meaning it will not degrade in your lifetime.

I think a game like that could work. But it would depend on how the gameplay is, if it's like Fallout 3 I don't think it would do so well due to limited linear combat, they would need to make the AI more survivable with reinforcements flowing. It would need to take a serious gameplay overhaul to work, but I like how you think...

Okay,I knew of the Winterized T-51b one.But never experienced any trouble with the Gauss Rifle in VATS.

The shooting mechanics were F3's weakest point, so I don't think it would be a great idea.

I much preferred the other DLCs, apart from Uttershit Zeta.

It would be an interesting spin-off but two problems arise:
1. The whole point in Fallout was that it was based around post-armageddon and making this would mean that it wouldn't be Fallout anymore.
2. The shooting aspect of the game would need improving. Greatly

Incidentally, have you played any other DLCs than Anchorage? Because according to most sources its apparently the second worst.

The devs likely thought that nobody would use it in VATS, seeing as it's basically a Sniper Rifle.

Could be an interesting spin off pure shooter, but I wouldn't want it as a direct Fallout game.

Well it could be like other earlyer fallout spinoffs where its linier and shooter based combat. But it coudn't be called "fallout 4" it would have to be something like "Fallout:The Great War" or something along those lines. But it would be an interesting game and they should make it.But if they do it would be in a while considering Besthesda is working on Fallout 4 and Fallout:New Vegas so if they do make it 2017 or 2018 would be a resonable bet of the year it would come out

One of the best parts of the Fallout universe, is how there's no real canon on how anything happened. As Ron Perlman says in the opening sequence, the details are irrelevant as to how the war went or how the world ended. What is important is that it went down the drain big time and you are left picking up the pieces. To place a game in the events of the Great War would seriously detract from the overall quality of the series, I believe.

New from Infinity Ward and Bethesda studios

Alternate Reality Warfare: The Great War

I think that would be a good melding and having IW helping on the fps side of things and maybe the story, I think it would be awesome.
