I'd like to recommend the Fallout 4 Configuration Tool.
It's just... better. Now I can finally play bordeless windows at my resolution (1366x768 in case you were wondering) and disable those annoying intros. (Cool as promotion material, not cool having they play everytime I open the game)
There are some other tweaks as well that I haven't messed with much... It's a must in my book.
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/102/?

Another mod I like it's the PipBoyShadows, it adds shadows to the pipboy lights as the name indicate... Which until I saw this mod on Nexus didn't even notice weren't there. Then I notice... And installed this mod. Works for the most part, it's definitly a bit glitchy sometimes. And may affect FPS.
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/281/?

Then there's the Settlement Supplies Expanded, which as of now it's still very much a work in progress but it shows potencial, it adds more stuff for you to build in build mode. Give some time and it may became essential for building you settlements. (For now I turn it off.)
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/1145/?

There is also this for settlement building, but I haven't tried yet.

Also, is it just me, or does it seem like dialog mods are exceptionally popular for the game so far? The top two mods on Nexus are both ones that fix the Bethesda dialog system after all.
One of the things that many people really liked about previous Fallout games was the conversations. It was how you made the character yours. In FO4, the conversations were much harder to anticipate, because you never knew for sure what your character was going to say. It was more like Mass Effect or - god forbid - LA Noire. On eo f the most annoying things about the latter was how you'd be skeptical of someone, prompting Cole Phelps to go batshit crazy and scream at them.

Early mods are usually the low-hanging fruit that's annoying everyone, so it's not a huge surprise to me that dialog mods are dominating that list.

The PipBoyShadows seems really, really good. Thanks for that one! The config tool is really weird in my opinion. No company worth their salt should release a game with all those options hidden away in ini files and not put any options for them in the menus. Yes we can mod it to fix it but people really shouldn't HAVE to fix such a simple bit of game design.

Alright, I actually have something worth recommending and adding to this thread!

no dotdotdot

It makes the inventory font size smaller to accommodate items with long names, so the names don't get truncated off with a "..."
Yet another fix to the broken UI. Thanks for contributing it to our little pile of knowledge here!

I was skeptical of the voiced protagonist + dialog wheel system they went with ever since they announced it. However, they really did manage to screw things up when Sarcastic will cover a whole range of options and you don't know what it will do. Vault Dweller Cole Phelps anyone?

Yeah, I expect a few more of the obvious mods soon took, the usual Hardcore Mode mod and other New Vegas features seem like they are going to be popular. But these mods that fix parts of Bethesda's weird game design are probably going to be the most popular for a good while (like SkyUI)

There's this mod who does the same for the workshop lights in settlements:
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2567/?

It also tweaks other things like how far they go and how bright they are. There's a version with no shadows on for those who suffered FPS loss. I however noticed that in one of my settlements a few lights were stronger (and diferent color) than others, don't know if its a problem with this mod and I only noticed in one settlement. I feel those are a bit better than vanilla, especially the holophote light that felt too weak before in vanilla.
(Actually only the construction light has shadows, but whatever, still looks better than vanilla.)

And since I am posting might as well post the best retexture I could find for the vault suit:
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2187/?

It's pretty neat in my opinion, so much better than those "Now another goddamn black vault suit retexture" that Nexus got a lot of. It looks very nice and still feels like a proper vault suit that's could be part of vanilla game and it comes with a few colors if you don't like blue. (Currently only Dark Blue, Red and White. Because those are the color of FREEDOM!)

And there's this in case you want more happy little trees in your game:
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/1390/?

It's silly and not lore friendly at all, but there's no way not to love this.

Happy little clouds improve everything.

Longer Power Lines: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2241/?
For when you are getting sick and tired of having to Construct Additional Pylons to get the power around your settlement.

Creature Follower ESP Version: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/696/?
Nice simple mod that let's you have almost anything as your follower. Yes that is a Super Mutant Behemoth. He's my +1.

Radiant Clouds and Fog: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/735/?
Improves the quality of clouds and the distant mountain fog so that the sky just looks a ton better.

CatMeat:http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/1120/?
For all the cat lovers out there, this replaces DogMeat's model with a cat model. It's nowhere near perfect but it's still kinda fun to muck about with.

Yeah, I was just about to post a link to a mod which alters that, but it looks like your mod has it covered.

Actually, there's a post in the mod's comment section that perfectly summarizes my thoughts on the matter:

Oh my god thank the nine divines! I was like oh cool a contruction light, those always blind me in raider camps, so they would be useful here. Then i place it and it looks like a depressed glowstick

Apparently the Raiders have access to better bulbs than the players. It was really, really silly just how weak all the place-able lighting was. My friend ended up using up most of his item limit just trying to make Sanctuary properly lit (Darker Nights is a cruel mistress) I think that this mod is definitely going to cheer him up so thanks to you both for the lighting mods!

I don't really understand why so many people hate the Creation Engine so much.
It is very old. It can't handle heavy amounts of scripts running at once. There are numerous memory leak issues, partially related to the age. It seems to have plateaued, visually speaking, the graphics don't hold up well against modern game engines. Even the fan made graphic mods thus far are not that impressive when compared to new engines.

Personally, I don't hate the engine. Just annoyed that they don't rebuild the thing from scratch, if they did, they could easily solve the legacy problems.

OT; I only have the dialogue mod installed. I usually don't mod a game until after my first playthrough, I'm a fan of the vanilla experience usually. But F4's dialogue system irked me greatly. I plan on waiting until the creation kit is released before I go mod crazy.

vallorn! You still interested in recommendations? Because I have a few more:

Dead Body Collision
Anyone else find it annoying that you can trip over skeletons (which are still wearing clothes, apparently) and kick them around, but you can't do the same to ACTUAL dead bodies of enemies you've just killed? (because normally you just clip right through them). Well, this mod fixes that.

Longer Power Lines
HUGE lifesaver. Now I can actually run power lines from house to house in Sanctuary, without having to have unsightly pylons propping it up in between.

Binary Speech Checks
Makes it so that on 10 Charisma, every speech check will succeed. (In vanilla, there's a 15% chance of failure, even at 10 Charisma. The math can be seen here.) But the main function of this mod is to make the speech checks purely pass/fail based on your Charisma stat (it makes it 'binary', in other words) instead of being based on dice rolls and random chance. To put it another way: It makes it like it was in FONV.
And if you're a cheater like me, (and end up save-scumming just to win at every speech check regardless of Charisma), then there's also a 'Cheat Edition' available too, which makes every speech check automatically succeed every time.

Don't know of any specific mods that exist, but one I would like to see I call

Radiant Everstorm. While not permanent, I want the radiation storms to happen WAY more often, and do significantly more radiation damage when they do. As they are, it's a very small amount of rad damage, and it seems (to me anyway based on my random encounters with it, that it only really happens in the NW area of the map. I can't recall running into it further east, or south.
They happen most commonly around the SW, around the Glowing Sea area.

Looking at the game code (by opening it in TES5EDIT), according to the climate data there's a 4% chance of a rad storm anywhere on the map, and a 50% chance of a rad storm in the Glowing Sea area.
The lightning strike frequency is just a simple variable, and each strike applies a MGEF (magic effect) to the player, which has an easily customizable magnitude.

So the mod you're asking for would be really easy to make.
Sweet! And if I at all trusted myself to go tinkering around with code, I might take a stab at fiddling with those figures! xD However I don't, so I might wait for someone else to do it and just download it.
Well, as an update to this, the mod you asked for now exists. (NOT made by me, I feel I should add.) I was just browsing the recently added section of the nexus, and came across:

Deadly Radstorms!

There are a multitude of different options available for rad damage levels, and also options to make the radstorms more frequent overall.

Check out dat chrome armor. Wowee.

Actually, people seem to have just discovered that FO4 fully supports reflection/specular maps (something that Skyrim didn't support, nor any previous Bethesda game). So of course people are absolutely going to town with the bling.

Sliver/chrome armor, sliver/chrome weapons, hell there's even a chrome pipboy: (my personal favorite of these)

If you want just a little extra shininess but nothing over the top, I can recommend More Shiny Vault Suit:

Maybe so, but I know I prefer threads with direct links than some video from someone I don't even know or follow. Links quick, efficient, and to the point. The videos are not.
... All the links are in the video's description, and some people like to SEE a mod in action BEFORE they download it.

Anyway, you're derailing. Stop it.

It was on topic. I don't think it's reasonable to say I was derailing it. You pretty much did the same thing. Posted a link to another thread and made a statement of your opinion.

Anyway, you're nitpicking. Stop it.

I imagine most, if not all, of these mods will be remade/restructued when the creation kit is released, so I'm just going to wait a few more weeks for that to happen.
