I would love to see my home country of the UK being covered, It would be interesting to see the difference between the two counties (albeit only in a game).

Surprised you hadn't already made one, my first thread was the first thing I ever posted.
I second that! The last time me and my best drinking buddy went out and got rat-arsed, we discussed London as a great Fallout location. It has many landmarks, the obligatory subway systems (The Tube), a bloody great water-hazard (The Thames) and so on. Alternatives to Vaults could have been built and, as any River Rat will tell you, London is honeycombed with ancient, underground tunnels and suchlike, which could have been re-purposed into shelters.

London Zoo could be the source of any mutated creatures, Tower Bridge could be involved in a quest (fix it so it can be lowered to gain access to more of the map), Big Ben could be a stronghold for a band of "raiders" who all have Cockney accents and the whole map littered with old Routemaster Buses and Black Cabs (all given the "nuclear" look, of course).

Oh and tea, obviously!

I like that g4 article about Japan. I'd love to play through this in Japan.

The tube would have territories and would be still in use unlike Washington's metro. Buckingham palace would be the main settlement. There would be raiders and traders who boat along the Thames. It would be great :D

Florida, with hicks in one part of the map, resorts and retirement homes in another part of the map, an a tongue-in-cheek Disneyworld analogue. It could be about the Eastern Brotherhood, now evolved into a proper army and government a la the NCR, fighting against a huge collective of pirates based out of Cuba.

I don't think Fallout should cover areas outside of America. It's just not that kind of game.
I live in Florida and the hicks fit right in. lol.
But the NCR wouldn't be there, seeing as how the center of the country is in really bad shape, and the Legion is apparently there. The brotherhood part makes sense though.

OT: Idc where it is as long as they bring back intelligent talking Deathclaws. That shit was cool and I always had one on my team for CQC/room clearing stuff.

As unfortunate as it is I think you're right, the essence of fallout is twofold vault-tec and 1950 American culture, take it out of America and you loose both of those things.
Its a shame because I'd like to see England in a game like fallout.

Reading that first line while tipsy was slightly amusing as I didn't see the "thread" part, I was vaguely interested about how creating this thread got you laid.
He meant it's the first thread he's made, genius.

Fallout needs to stick with America because that's where all the Vault Tec Vaults are, and a Fallout game without one would be... odd to say the least.
Maybe that's where all the Vault Tec Vaults are, but who's to say no other country had an inkling what a nuclear war might result in?

It also wouldn't have all the other things such as Super Mutants and whatnot if it was elsewhere.
It might not have Super Mutants but it'd just have other things, I personally think it'd be interesting and will also never happen unless it's a different game, Fallout is American.

I'm hoping the next one will have more interior focus, I'm sick of desert wastelands.

Fallout: London - One of the great things in 3 was being able to identify landmarks like the history museum etc. London could provide the same atmosphere

Fallout has yet to do America. There's so much of America to cover! Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Bronx, Staten, and the northern wasteland. After so many games taking place in the Soviet Union we need a change of pace.
I'm pretty sure you just named 5 boroughs of New York and the Canadian/Alaskan tundra... you have a weird idea of America.

OT: Miami. Have the east side of the map be the Miami Beach area, with destroyed high-class hotels along the shore. Move to the center to get away from the city and into the abandoned industrial sites, then move west into the Everglades. The contrast in environments would provide a compelling game map instead of the current dichotomy of destroyed city or empty wasteland. Maybe include a trip north to Kennedy Space Center for DLC.

A possible conflict would be over the Everglades' natural ability to purify water. The factions involved would have to divide themselves between the cover provided by downtown Miami on the east side of the map and the fresh water on the west. It's a bit of a rehash of 3's plot, but the focus could be the consequences of devoting resources to either shoring up defenses in the city or improving water hauling ability from the Everglades rather than control of one point (Project Purity).

America hasn't been finished yet! You still have places like Anchorage, Alaska. It would be perfect. The story could be focused around the Brotherhood of Steel fighting the local tribes over control of the technology left behind from the Reclamation. Think how much cooler it would be (no pun intended) to be in a taiga completely frozen by nuclear winter instead of the standard parched desert. If you can't imagine it, just walk around Jacobstown in F:NV. It would be pretty similar, albeit on a larger scale.

On a somewhat related topic here are some ideas I've been thinking of.

1. The eastern and western Enclave remnants coming together to form a halfway good organization, kind of like the BoS. They would focus on the production of new technology, unlike the BoS with their hunt for pre-war technology.

2. More large scale fights kind of like the end mission of F:NV (I'm pretty sure they are all like that)

3. More enemy factions (Like the Super Mutants or Enclave of F3). Fallout: New Vegas ran out of enemies to kill very fast. It didn't have any hostile random encounters like the Enclave or Talon company, so things just didn't feel as exciting after a while.

4. Instead of fancy standard weapons(I.E. brush gun, plasma caster), make more unique versions of weapons that can be repaired with the normal versions. Having to find a second plasma caster or enough weapon repair kits was a very tiring and expensive process.

6. More craftable weapons. I liked the Railway rifle and the Rock-It Launcher. It saddened me to see those removed from F:NV.

Here's a couple with good conflict ideas to explore too...

-Chicago
The mafia
-Los Angelas
Cryps vs Bloods
maybe some allusion to Chinatown
-New York
The different burros
-New Orleans
um... floods
-Salt Lake City
Crazy mormons
the growing NCR

I just want the next one to feature the Commonwealth (mentioned in Fallout 3). They seem to be able to produce true androids, so it would be cool to see.

Detroit would be great or Austin. Ohio would be cool. I think Detroit looks really bad right now and we should blow it up and make it look like the present. We could make Detroit the automation and robotics capital in the Fallout Universe

Well, there's always New York. Maybe some subway trains still work, and there are some gangs around. You're probably going to be in one of those gangs, and someone is going to want all of the gangs to have a truce. Then all gangs meet up, and someone shoots the guy who wanted to call a truce. Your gang then gets blamed for it, and you are forced to run back home. The big problem though, will be the fact that your gang will have their hideout in Coney Island. That and the fact that the meeting was in the Bronx. Then, you and the other members of your gang will fight their way back to Coney, using the subway trains to get around. Then, when you get back to Coney, the guy who actually shot the truce caller shows himself.

If you guess what I'm referencing, you get a massive ass cookie.

theres no reason a fallout Australia couldnt work, I diagree that is HAS to be an american thing (Imagine replacing Vault boy with a cartoon kangaroo in a vault jumpsuit)

while our 50's culture was unique its still recognizable to Americans (Nuka-mite anyone?)

and we have the wild life to pull off some terryfying mutated creatures, Im not actually sure what Australias stance was in the fallout universe

only thing Is if they got a bunch of american actors to try and do australian accents..THAT would be painful

anyway that said theres still plenty of America to explore

Only if Torchwood 3 is turned into a dungeon, or something.

OT: I'd love to see a Fallout game in Alaska, or Canada. Having a snowy setting would be pretty sweet.
