Fallout 4 what additions do you want

a couple of questions.

first is:
1. what small additions would you like to see them add in patches?

2. what would you like to see added in DLC and expansions?

my biggest suggestion patch wise is to change the names of people you attract to settlements from "settler" to what ever job you have assigned them like "guard". its currently a pain in the ass and makes your settlements look like a weird cult when you have to dress them in a similar way to spot new people

my second suggestion would be making more clothing available for ballistic weave mods. makes no sense a military cap cant be modded but a paper boys cap can

as for DLC, etc id like to see more buildings open, seeing all those boarded up buildings in concord for example and not being able to enter is a pain

*edit* yes im aware of mods and cant wait but it will be sometime next year bore the proper construction kit gets released

Well, the obvious one is paintjobs for weapons. We already have a selection of paintjobs for power armor, and the SMG is the only weapon that comes in a silver paintjob (given to you on a specific quest). So I'd like to see paintjobs expanded to cover most of the other weapons.

I'm thinking this'll likely be added via DLC, unless modders beat Bethesda to it.

One of the things that keeps me from buying the game is the voice acting. Not even its presence, at this point, but how bad is the voice of the protagonist. So, I'd like Bethesda to add "silence" function, so that when I use it, PC says nothing (i.e. no voiced lines). I could live with PC nodding or something, though.
And make dialogue options clearer. Yes, there is a mod that allows for seeing the whole line, but I'd like Bethesda to stop wiping their asses with cash and work.
Also, people say that there are problems with settlments. Those should be fixed too.
Oh, and I'd like other characteristics that are not Charisma to matter for dialogues, but it will never happen.

As for DLC... Heck, I dunno. The game seems so damn serious, so maybe something fun like Old World Blues.

I'd like to see more interesting quests. No, not radiant ones, I find those pretty lazy and more of a chore than fun. Something silly would do great, too. I'd appreciate some more unique power armour, armour types and tiers, clothing and creatures. I'd like to see more interesting and unique legendary abilities and for the game's systems to be somewhat better explained than they currently are.

EDIT: And more unique modifications that show up on power armour. Adding Tesla coils doesn't seem to change it aesthetically, which it really should.

I want some way to be able to find out where my companions are on my map if I dismiss them and lose track of them. Early in the game I dismissed Dogmeat and spent about half an hour searching Sanctuary Hills looking for him to no avail.

I'd like to see more interesting sidequests (instead of just go to X and clear it of Y) and more options for high level mods for all weapons. Let me mod my guns to be ridiculously OP.

That, and the ability to be an evil character. You're pretty much forced to help out the good guys to progress the main story, and if you don't it'll lock out two major factions from appearing. It'd be great if there was an option to side with the raiders attacking Preston and crew, then have them become your buddies instead.

I wanna but a a .44 right in Mamma Murphy's ugly, saggy, melted cheese face and I don't wanna have to use mods to be able to do it.

This allows you to rename them yourself.

I'm pretty sure this does what you want.

I know mods are no excuse for Bethesda's failings, but they've already solved a lot of problems for people.

The fact that most of the fallout series normally had ways to get around killing things, it is strange that most of it is go and kill things. That and the lack of ways to alter the dialog sucks. Perhaps this is a problem with the fact that they would have increased the voice acting lines dramatically in order to do so, but it would have been nice.

Settlement expansion to make it actually mean something. Expand what can be done with them, expand what NPCs do there, make radiant quests make more sense. Go full Sims on it if you have to. Anything to make me give a damn, besides throwing up 50 turrets and moving on. Which moves onto point two.

Improve the UI. Settlement building screams a mouse/keyboard interface at least on PC, or some kind of top down view. Give me some management pages to shuffle settlers around. Make it an actual city builder within the game. You can't say its impossible because games have done it before and Bethesda was just lazy with their harebrained ideas, as usual.
More actual settlements full of lore/NPCs, instead of every single one just being something I have to make myself full of random settlers.

Also, make a random name generator for settlers. Don't just call them 'settler'. That is just asking me to not give a shit about them. I remember back in Morrowind, I think every single NPC had a name, even random bandits. I miss those days.

Expanded dialogue system, the current one is depressing for me to use. I miss all the dialogue segments associated with particular stats/skills/perks.

A hardcore/survival mode with much more limited resources available and a requirement to eat/drink, make radiation much more threatening. New Vegas had something similar. I greatly enjoyed playing Skyrim with mods like Hypothermia. This goes hand in hand with...

Make the game harder. This doesn't just mean upping the damage on enemies and making them bullet sponges. The game throws resources at you. Far more than you'd ever expect for a post apocalyptic setting that is 200 years old. Its like there is no shortage of anything. I'd like a more desolate mode, where survival is much more difficult.

Much much more environmental lore/stories. I feel like they are almost non-existent in FO4. Every area is just full of bad things that want to kill me and nothing else. There are far less dark humor locations and events. I also have encountered far less random events than I am used to as well. I remember how often I could go into a location and there'd be environmental things to tell a long lost story, combined with notes, and terminal entries. FO4 has some of these but it feels like far far less than I've seen in prior games. Which is a shame because my favorite quests were the unmarked ones.

There is a lot more I'd like to see but offhand, those were what jumped out at me as some things that felt like missteps for me.

Bethesda Scaling enemies are fucking dreadful, and always have been. Bethesda have never been good at it, being a level 30 Hero of Cyrodill, Daedric Lord of Madness, and running into Bandits in FULL DAEDRIC ARMOR trying to rob me for what 30 gold was is and always will be stupid.

A dialogue tree. Seriously, I'm sick of not being able to gather information from NPCs, and just guessing whether or not I want to join their organizations.

New Vegas styled hardcore mode.

Improved cannibalism. There needs to be a way to put human, supermutant, and ghoul flesh in your inventory, and then cook it later. I don't want to play as a character who eats people raw with their bare hands, that's just gross.

A power armor mod that works like the Gravity Suit in Metroid. As of now, it's really slow and terrible under water.

More weapons, including the plasma caster, the grenade launcher, the grenade machine gun, .38 and .45 pistols that aren't made out of copper piping, and timed and remotely activated bombs.

A .308 receiver for the Assault Rifle.

Tranquilizer darts for the syringer rifle.

A way to keep Marcy Long and other Sanctuary Hills residents out of my house, short of leaving them in the museum to die.

Either scale blood and rain droplets to the size of the power armor's lenses, or remove them altogether. Ruins the immersion for me every time, it's like I'm looking through a 2x2 foot window, not a visor.

I want my character to scrog Deacon.

I want the 3rd gen synths to call me grandpa/grandma

Mostly some kind of fleshing out of the settlement building. I really, really like the "rebuilding society" angle. I'm taking great pleasure in clearing out the bloody car wrecks and making sure everyone's white picket fences are upright dammit. We shall be civilized I tell you, CIVILIZED!

I'd also perhaps like setting an expansion in the Canadian bits of the Commonwealth. Or maybe do something more with the deeper areas of the Glowing Sea. Make something really alien out of it or something.

It beats being level five and running into a freaken Sentry Bot [http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Sentry_bot_(Fallout_4)] at the junkyard which isn't very far from Sanctuary.
Eh, I don't think so. I really like seeing that kind of stuff and running away in terror at first, only to come back later and give them an epic run for their money. When I could finally crush Deathclaws it felt amazing and beating my first Sentry Bot was brilliant. A proper triumph. There's supposed to be crazy threats out there that overwhelm you at first, that feels a lot more natural and a lo more grande. It's that what makes me coming back to the game.

Oblivion on the other hand never made me feel powerful or like I was really going anywhere.

The 2.0x damage is cheap though. Even though with that I'm still drowning in Stimpacks.

How is that fair?
So some people that have been out in the wastes, probably killing and stealing most of their lives are better equipped that some fresh out the vault pre-war relic? Who woulda thunk?
I've been taken out by raiders/muties/etc with fatmen and missile launchers and power armor. It was definitely a nasty surprise at first but after that I started to move more cautiously, started to be more aware of my surroundings, as someone should in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. If an encounter is too tough then re-think your approach. If you're just too under-leveled and under-equipped to handle a situation then perform a tactical retreat and come back when you've got some more levels and better gear under your belt. Most things will wreck your shit early level, as it really should be. You're fresh out the vault, have no/shitty armor, no money, and crappy guns. It makes total sense that if you run into a pre-war bunker and find a sentry bot that you'll get annihilated. Same if you decide to run into a massive Raider camp.

Early to mid game (depending on skill) you have to be careful, deliberate, and know when to swallow your pride and retreat.
Then you come back later in X01 armor with heavy weapons and grenades and roflstomp everything while cackling like a man gone mad :D

The enemies doing more damage to the PC is total bullshit though.

OT: I'd Bethesda to add some non-charisma speech checks. As it stands my max Intelligence, Nuclear Physicist PC talks to people like he don't know shit and that annoys me a little.

I would like them to strip the NPC invulnerability after a certain point. I want to murder Marcy Long so bad, but I can't.
I also don't like being railroaded into being a good character. Even picking the "bad" dialogue choices just makes you a bit of an asshole, usually an asshole with a good point too. What if I want to be a total monster? I can't even indiscriminately kill everyone because there are so many invulnerable NPCs.

I'd like some more mod options for melee weapons, some more visual effects for power armor mods (my tesla coils should show up dammit), and maybe some more cosmetic options for weapons and armor as well. Paint and shit.

And I would fucking love it if Bethesda released some proper settlement building options. I can make a fully functional and autonomous gun turret, massive water purifiers and shit, but I can't make a nailed together wooden wall without massive gaps in it? It's fuckin wood and nails, it ain't hard to make a weather-proof wall out of wood and nails.

Can I just sum up what I want from the game in really short terms?

Proper RPG aspects in the gameplay, make my bloody stats MEAN something Bethesda you twonks. Skill and SPECIAL checks in dialogue are part of what made New Vegas so thrilling to replay (Playing a low Int character and meeting Veronica never ceases to amuse me).

Put some decent quests in there, I know you are capable of it Bethesda so please in the name of gravy put some quests that aren't "Go to location X and murder all the Ys / retrieve item Z/ butter the resident wastelander's toast for them." This whole "Radiant Quest" stuff is starting to make you get exceptionally lazy in the quest design dept...

Fix God Rays... For the love of god those need fixing because, on PC, they murder most framerates at anything above Low without any noticeable visual change.

For DLC, make it somewhere kind of weird, Fallout 3 had that in Point Lookout to some degree as well as messing with the 50s Alien stuff in Zeta (not the best thing but it was certainly different). New Vegas had almost all of it's DLC set in exceptionally weird places (Sierra Madre or Big MT especially) and even Skyrim had parts where you go to the Soul Cairn or Apocrypha. Not to mention Oblivion's fantastic Shivering Isle... That's still one of my favorite ever DLCs for any game...
Just... I don't mind where Bethesda goes with the DLC, just make it weird and interesting and I'll probably have way more fun than in The Commonwealth.

Now... Where did I leave my copy of Morriwind. I want to go play their best game to remind me what Bethesda are calpable of making when they aren't being lazy.

P.S. Let me ride a Deathclaw. Just do it Bethesada you know you want to.

Centaurs...

Mutant hounds are 10% as visually interesting. I know the choice was likely made because Centaurs are difficult to make threatening in combat, but I don't care. Centaurs are the only creature in the modern day fallout games that dared to go all out on the abomination factor. Make them hiss or cry gutturally where a mutant hound would do their foghorn howl. Make them startlingly fast at dragging their fleshy bodies along the floor and make them spit like a mirelurk hunter, but with lots of radiation. I hope I see them in the future. It's one of the creatures I was most looking forward to seeing in updated graphics.

Other than that, more underclothing choices, as well as the ability to paint peices of armour.

Somebody else mentioned painting guns, better yet, make unique weapons look different, god damn it. And I'm not talking about "legendary" (see: enchanted) weapons, I'm talking ones with special names that always can be found in a particular location. And they should make nearly every mod follow the weapon's colour scheme. It seems like an obvious thing to do.

Stop throwing stimpaks and radaway at me, and stop giving me exp for cooking stuff. It's just needless seeing as there's enough incentive to cook as is.

Also, at this point, I'm finding the basic energy weapons a bit odd, that is, laser rifles/pistols and plasma rifles/pistols. For both there's a ballistic which is close enough in strength and with much easier ammo to find, so what's the incentive to use them unless they have a bonus effect? I think we need energy weapon perks. If somebody's read more into what makes energy damage considerably better, though, please inform me. I'm swimming in .45s for my combat rifle (I'd even be swimming in .308s if I chose to use that receiver) but my plasma rifle just sits and rots because plasma cartridges are so rare by comparison.

Still trying to find where I left that damn dog. Not because I want to roll with him or anything, but rather because I want him to hang out with the rest of the squad at my settlement.

A balance system. By default, enemies in the script do 2.0x more damage to you regardless of what difficulty you're on.
Don't take this the wrong way, but I find combat much too easy to care. I've gone into survival mode to stop myself from just running into combat at this rate.

Haven't touched the Minutemen's questline because the settlement building seems tedious. Fun, but tedious on the long term.

Considering, I'd love a "Press X to fast-forward to the amount of elapsed time you would've needed to tidy up the entire area and scrap every single item" mod.

I've spent THREE HOURS cleaning up Sanctuary Hills when I should've been out in the Commonwealth, allowing Super Mutants to get acquainted with their own innards.

I'd like better automated resource gathering. Settlements seem to out grow available resources across the entire map sooner than later. i have supply lines, and major hub settlements, but I really would like to create grand structures a bit faster instead of taking the long slow route of scrapping weapons and armor to try and keep up. Maybe a "creative mode" mod instead where you have unlimited materials to build with?

Fallout New Vegas clothes need to make a return.

I haven't seen any prostitutes. Where are they at? :p

Well to begin with the settlement creation thing would benefit greatly from take a page or three from Halo's Forge mode. Also explaining how certain things, such has power, work more clearly.

So much this. It continues to annoy the living hell out of me when I go through a city and only one out of every six can be entered. Even more annoying is that the only damned thing between me and the inside of most of these buildings is a few measly boards.

I also would love it if they would make it so that Dogmeat doesn't have constant disregard to open every door withing a 30 foot radius and then stand in said door when you're trying to go through it.

As for DLC, well I'm not quite sure what I'd like to see. Maybe something involving the DC Brotherhood of Steel or some entirely new faction that comes from farther inland of the US. Whatever they do I just hope that at least one of the DLCs they're planning is a full on expansion. Even better if it was something along the lines of Old World Blues meets the Sivering Isles.
