New vegas didn't have as many good songs as FO3 but i was disappointed to see not as many songs put in.

For instance theres the Kings school of impression which is obviously about Elvis but there was no Blue Saude Shoes and when i saw the quest 'Nothin But a Hound Dog' i believed that if i beat the mission i would then get the song on the radio i was wrong thou.

i think its time to let go of the 50's Fashion the Music and the Time move on to the 80's or the 90's the best part about fallout 3 was the catchy tunes and the long hikes while singing along with The Ink Spots. but imagine Listening to 'Imagine' By John Lennon while walking through a town like post-Apocalptic Seattle[i don't know many American towns]

But what song would you like to listen to on the Next Fallout Radio Station? and what era should Fallout Move to? and what are some good examples on when to use that song?.

Dont get me wrong i love Fallout and New vegas its just Musically New vegas didn't do for me.

OR another example just came to me Listening to Bust a Move while fighting Bandits using a Power Glove.

Hang on i got another idea the song 'Satisfaction' by the Rolling Stones while Fighting off the enclave after failing a Speech Challenge.

Wouldn't putting 80s-90s in a Fallout game kinda defeated the purpose of its 50s Retro-Futuristic setting? If one can assume the art and architectural style got timelocked, then the music would too. Not that I can't think of a bunch of music that would fit the games, but musical styles have changed greatly in 40 years. Even though they may be appropriate to the "post-apocalyptic wasteland" , they would be anachronistic to the "50's Gee Wiz" era that they're going for.

I was disappointed by the small number of songs in New Vegas and I half suspect that they are soon going to sell other radio stations via DLC or some such.

As for new music: no. It really has to stay 50s. That is the feel of the whole game. (I guess JamesBr just said this)

Also, part of the charm of FO3 was learning about all this bigband music I had never heard before. I don't want to have the same thing I could hear by tuning into the local oldies station.

Just bring back the Kiss To Build a Dream On. For me, that's as much a part of Fallout as, say, radiation.

Or, hell, anything's fine, as long as it doesn't involve any big iron on anyone's hip.

part of what makes Fallout Fallout is the 1950,s "world of tomorrow" setting maybe a new series can use the 70,s 80,s or 90,s

Well considering fallout is the 50s view of the future....music from the 80s or 90s would kinda kill the theme to me...

However, New Vegas is shit for music....I think my radio was broken, as it only ever played 4 songs :(

I moved my Fallout 3 radio stuff to New Vegas though. So it's tolerable :p

I agree that they didn't have enough songs for New Vegas. To me, it seems like laziness where the radio is concerned.

Since it's supposed to be a more Desperado, wild west, country motif, I am sure they had PLENTY to work with from the 40's-50's. It should just stay within that range though. Anything later, would defeat the purpose.

However, I could listen to Johnny Guitar by Peggy Lee any time!

That is probably the only song I really enjoyed out of their meager selection.
Just something about it, makes me love it. ^_^

Quoted for truth, and because I couldn't have summed it up better anyway.

That being said, I do feel like the Radio in New Vegas could need more songs. Sort of tiresome to hear "Big Iron" all the time.

In Fallout 3 it was supposed to create a nice contrast of wandering through a nuclear wasteland while listening to upbeat 30's and 40's tunes. And it worked very well. Not so much in New Vegas though, which is odd because you'd figure 30's and 50's Vegas would have some nice showtunes.
