Fallout New Vegas: Broken Quest?

So Just today I downloaded that "comprehensive" patch so thats all fine and dandy

but there was that quest "ED-E my love" where I have to bring the robot to that old lady in the scrapyard, but when I do she has nothing to say about it, I've gone through all my dialogue options with her

this was allways the case and I thourght it was jsut broken and would be fixed when the patch came out...but that hasn't happend

anyone else got this? am I doing it wrong?

Yes, you do not bring it to her, you just may need to be near her to activate a memory bank entry. You bring it to one of two other tech-savvy organizations.

I know nothing of this quest...but I am afraid I can't complete it if I wanted because that old lady is dead.

I was in a firefight at the solar plant and all of the sudden she teleports out of nowhere and takes buckshot to her head. It didn't kill her, but Boone finished the job.

Theres actually a glitch with that, if you visit Old lady Gibson before finding ED-E then you cant finish the quest

I talked to old lady Gibson before acquiring ED-E and i could finish it anyways, you just need to speak to different "science" people, i talked to Hildern at Camp McCarran and Rivas at Helios one (not Mr.Fantastic, i wouldn't trust that guy to change a lightbulb...)and it worked just fine.

Possible, are you sure you exhausted all the dialogue options with these guys ?

Ive actually done the quest on a different character, its just the first time i tried, it just wouldnt work, i even went through all the dialogue options with her several times again

The quest says to talk to her, but it's not really required. What you are actually looking for is having people say certain keywords in dialogue that causes ED-E to play a log back to you afterward. After you get a few(two for me, actually), you just do whatever for a while and you'll get a phone call through ED-E that will tell you how to finish the quest.
