Go PC ... it's on the steam network and the community is strong that complaints are heard and dealt with more rapidly than on either console.

On subject, I think it is funny how companies will cover their tracks in this way, but really who doesn't want to look good in the gaming industry? Also, I'm just happy I didn't spring for it with the lag I've seen, the tiny map and the ps3 hard drive killing!?!?! I don't have complete confirmation on the game mucking with hard drive data, but it's one of those things floating around my gaming friends. True or not, it's too risky for me yet.

You think that is the worst of it?

A very large amount of people get constant crashes, glitched and unplayable saves and tons more. I'm on the edge about buying it myself...

It cannot be mega-buggy can it, the last thing I want is to waste money on a game that crashes all the time.
Don't worry Bethesda is making a patch to fix that.

I like New Vegas allot. But i find it quite funny and ironic that Bethesda is making a Patch for Obsidian's game.
Most people will agree that Bethesda puts a massive amount of effort into it's games. But it's funny to me that they're doing it for someone else. I guess it reflects on them in the end and this will just help profit them. But it makes me laugh anyway.
How do you feel about this patch? I personally welcome it. Anything to get rid of Obsidians' endless bugs.
Well to be fair, aren't a lot of the bugs the same bugs that were in Fallout 3, making them Bethesda's bugs in the first place? Sure there obviously should have been more effort by both parties to fix some of them BEFORE release, but I don't see Bethesda making a patch as cleaning up Obsidian's mess, I see it as them fixing up their own mess.

Oh, and PS3. PS3's seem to run the game better.
After playing Fallout 3 on the PS3, I have a very hard time believing that.

I ran into one bug so far (Payed for 4 hours) and it was a simple radscorpion stuck in the ground. I don't see what all the fuss is about.
They said the same thing about Fallout 3 "its too buggy, there are game-breaking buggs" and guess what? i had no problems with Fallout 3, only encountering minor buggs (like you said, enemy stuck in the ground).
That's because it was a review copy. Game reviewers in order to get the review out sooner get sent review copy's which are often a lot more buggy and less polished. Don't get me wrong i found the game buggy but it's not nearly as buggy as it would seem.

No... the last thing Bethesda put effort into was Bloodmoon. Everything after that has just been lazy and shoddy.
Look. I like Bethesda. You apparently don't. That's the thing about opinions. They're different.

All I have to say is even though I've run across a bug or two, the things that they got right (iron sight aiming, weapon mods, etc.) vastly outweigh anything I could think to gripe about.

I went PC, simply because I hate the way consoles' low resolution is upscaled onto my TV's native 1080p, therefore making everything horribly pixelly and jagged (AKA sans anti-aliasing). So I'd get it on PC to enjoy a smooth framerate and smooth true full-HD images.

However i played fallout 3 on xbox 360 and the way that the controls are configured for the two consoles is SO GOOD, so it's a toss up: assigning actions to keys as best you can on PC -vs- intuitive controller buttons on console || great graphics on PC -vs- substandard, downscaled console graphics on console.

Really, either is as good as the other, it doesn't matter. I got it for PC also because it was cheaper at the online store I visited :p

Considering that many of the bugs in the game are confirmed to be a result of Bethesda's own bugged engine, I'm honestly not too suprised. Bethesda doesn't have a very good track record when it comes to bugs. Granted, obsidian is generally even worse, but laying the blame for the whole thing squarely on their shoulders isn't fair. Bethesda gets to share the blame because the resources Obsidian had to work with were bugged to begin with.

TBH the 12ish hours I've played I haven't had many bugs other than one crash and a couple of slow to render textures. I really don't understand what people are on about when they say the are lots of bugs.

So I heard NV is buggy?
Way buggy. It's not as buggy as the reviews make out but it's still more so than a lot of games. Obsidian is like that.
Well its a massive game, they have alot to cover, still there's no excuse for a mega buggy game.
In todays environment there are plenty of excuses. What is inexcusable is that some of the worst glitches I have run into are oddly familiar, and in things that happened in Fallout 3 that where patched up.

There where several game crashing glitches in Fallout 3 that dealt with repairing items, and swapping items between inventories. I'm pissed that they had to know about these, and know about the fix for them and still did nothing.

I wrote this user-made review of Fallout: New Vegas [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.240243] that I posted up last night. That could tell you more as well. :)

Well, the XBOX will be getting...sigh... exclusive dlc stuff. So it's down to the question do you use mods? If you do and are using Windows XP I'd say go for the pc version (Windows 7 and Vista apparently have some pretty epic frame rate issues that seem strangely connected to players using Nvidia products) otherwise go for the PS3 one.
Drop the file d3d9.dll in the Fallout: New Vegas game folder and this is fixed. The problem really only affected 64 bit versions of Vista and Windows 7 using Nvidia cards. Maybe you should do some research before making suggestions?
Nvidia owners should still watch out, as I've heard that their last two sets of drivers can cause dippy frame rates near water in both recent Fallouts.

Well considering Obsidian can't fix bugs for shit, makes sense Bethesda's doing it. Of course your basically just trading for a different, but still equally stupid studio. But still, letting a bug like the saved games reset get through is just inexcusable. Seriously, I know these games are hard to make, but come the fuck on. You'd think they would try to make the saves work.
