Fallout New Vegas Reputation

I'm on my first playthrough, on hardcore. And I'm playing a evil ************ who dislikes the law.
AKA I kill a lot of people.

Now, lets just say there is a small NCR outpost near Primm. And I may have killed some people there. (read: all of em) This will probably set my reputation with the NCR down. However, they haven't shown up in the actual general tab.

I was wondering, with a negative reputation, but still wearing NCR clothes. Could I still interact with them? Or will I get shot?

Clothes will always disguise you for a given faction...but they can still detect you with guard dogs and certain other guard posts. If you're a careful, sneaky bastard, you can do a lot of damage that way.

If you are wearing NCR armour, that means you default as neutral I believe.

I accidentally killed a few NCR guys and got "shunned" by the faction. While I was wearing NCR armour, I was "Neutral".

I have no idea. This play through I found most of the major factions and families as bad as each other, so I haven't helped anyone unless they were in dire need for example Goodsprings, I helped NOVAC too, but they needed the help with those ghouls. And my god, the ending to that quest line is worth it.

That is because, on first look, they think you're them. You're in disguise.

The factions thing seem a little arbitrary. Except the Powder Gangers; they tend to shoot me on sight.
I wiped out the entire Caesars Legion in one town, along with their slaver camp a little further on and the random cohorts of theirs I find out in the Wasteland don't even bat an eyelid at me despite having vilified status.
Obviously the news hasn't spread very far that I'm generally hostile to them.

It gets complicated in Vegas, some tough descisions to make!

Anyone else get the NCR Emergency radio? It's like the Enclave Commander Mod from Fallout 3. Pretty awesome stuff.

I got it but I havnt used it yet.

Certain compainions refuse to work with certain factions and will shoot them on sight regardless of your rep with them. One example is boone will shoot any ceasers legion soldier he meets regardless of what your rep is with them. Its kind of annoying but once you figure out who everybody likes and hates its not so bad.

Yeah but Rex get along with anyone, my other companion was Lily, she too gets along with anyone but they randomly shot at rex but not me or lily

Indeed. Its a game with alot of replayability potential.

i recall when i first entered that one town that the Legion finished off, when i entered the general store that has the crippled Powder Ganger, at first sight, he went "ah hell, first the Legion, then the F***king Grim Reaper of the Powder Gangers. what did we ever do to you, man?"

i found that funny, because they started shooting at me when i was looking right outside Goodspring.
