I'm pretty excited about it, if anyone says Bethesta is just building this game out of Fallout 3, shut up, I think that's a good thing.

The 'Hardcore' mode came as the biggest surprise to me, why? 'cuase in that mode, Ammo has weight. Yeah, I was pretty shocked about it, You ever thought Fallout 3 was hard enough with the expansions and the freightingly powerful baddies that went with it, you never played it while having billets being also at risk of over-encumbering you.

Also, in that game the Vegas area is still intact, and the lights are still on, which I found bizarre, but it was cool too.

I heard a rumor that the scale in Fallout New Vegas is way bigger than that of Fallout 3, and it has a vehicle system, which if the scale is as rumored, would be the right way to go?

though frankly, I'm mainly hoping for some gambling mini-games, since this is Vegas we're in, why not?

but enough about what I think and want from this game? what do you think so far? and what would you what?

I hope the brotherhood returns also.
I hope they stick true to the Western Brotherhood, rather than the East.
I don't really care if the enclave returns or not. I hope raiders do.
I don't think so. I thought Fallout3 was the last of the Enclave. Those that survived after the fall of the rig in F2 moved eastward at the behest of the ZAX Eden.

I'm still on the fence leaning towards optimism and I'm pretty sure I'll be buying it at its midnight release.
I'm just a bit skeptical about the whole hardcore thing. Like in Fallout 3 the game was actually a challenge on the hardest difficulty in the beginning. You don't have a ton of bullets/weapons and you don't have a slew of perks or spent ability points. The problem is that soon you're literally tripping over ammo and bullets and I spent a good chunk of time just quick traveling back and forth to town just to unload junk I didn't need.
That said I'm a little worried about it being to realistic, there needs to be a balance that is challenging but doesn't drive the player insane. Like I don't want to have to be mentally calculating how much water my character needs before crossing the wasteland lest I keel over 3/4ths of the way and die. And I'm never a huge fan of weighted inventory, especially with bullets. Its like great do I either take a sniper rifles that is more of a 1-2 shot kill or do I take the SMG but have to worry about carrying a butt load of bullets? Thus forcing me into a sniper style gameplay (I actually love sniping, just saying what if I hated it).

I'm also wary of big and the claim that you can spend hundreds of hours exploring the wasteland. Yea Fallout 3's wasteland was huge...but there was only pockets of things to actually do and I spent a lot of pointless/wasted hours traveling through copy-pasted train tunnels...which was not fun.

I think I want it.
I wasn't too big of a fan of Fallout 3 for one reason: There was only one environment. Which is why I was ecstatic to play the expansions, so I could go into pre-nuclear war Alaska or on an alien spaceship. I think the new environment of Las Vegas should provide a pretty neat game.

I can't wait for this game! I loved fallout 3, feeling kinda dissappointed that I never got into fallout 1 and 2 now aswell. Especially seeing as though Black Isle made some of the best RPGs ever.

If you don't like what Hardcore mode adds to the game why not simply not use it?

Anyway the game itself looks OK much better than 3 was anyway but it won't compare to the originals.

It just can't ever compare to the originals can it?

=/

Even if it might turn out better....

Ammo weight worked in the older games because you had multiple party members to share the load and each one only really needed one gun anyway. Making ammo weightless doesn't really make the game easier it just cuts down on the amount of time you have to spend collecting/depositing ammo in your stash. I guess for some the realism element makes it worth it, but I'd rather have the focus be on fun things like fighting and exploring rather than ammo box organisation.

Still though its very neat that they're putting the options in there, I'm very happy to see Fallout back in the hands of its creators.

Didn't say it can't just said it won't, it's going to have the same crappy gameplay as 3 did, the stupid element has already been confirmed and wellObsidian just aren't on par with Black Isle.

Even if it might turn out better....
It might, but it won't.

I never said anything about not liking it, I said I was worried about it being too realistic which would lead it to be less of a challenge and more of a hassle. I want a challenge, because like I stated while Fallout 3 is decently challenging it becomes a joke after a few hours because you get so much stuff to help you. I'm just saying I have a feeling they might get the balance wrong and either try to take too much away from you or just add a bunch of tedious hurdles (like the water example).
I'm also curious how you can make a statement claiming that it looks much better than fallout 3 considering we've seen a single trailer about a robot digging in the sand (most likely digging out the main character) and what is most likely a California Republic Solider. And there really isn't that much info released so far...

But Hardcore mode isn't about challenge it's about increasing the depth of the game, the whole point is to add in small details that are only problematic if the player doesn't deal with them. It's completely seperate from difficulty.
And as to the game looking better, for a start Bethesda isn't making it, and we have plenty of info from all the articles in various magazines.

I want to play it, just cause Fallout 3 was the greatest thing I ever played. So I doubt it will live up to my "On-Par with God" expectations.

I'v heard good things about Obsidian Entertainment from fans of the first two Fallout games, and considering it will be using the same engine as Fallout 3 (Which I quite enjoyed) this game cannot fail.

Ammo will have weight?
This is madness!
Madness. THIS. IS. VEGAS!

But in all seriousness I'm really excited for this game.

I wanna know who taught these people blackjack?

This is stuff I already know and stop telling him that Obsidian Entertainment is making it.

Stop correcting him. BTW Fallout 3 has a Harcore mode mod.

It looks nice, and from what this says hardcore is going to give it the feel of the original fallout. I hope the vehicle is the Chrysalis Motors Highwayman from fallout 2 that'd be cool. And if they have a vehicle it'll probably have a trunk that you can put stuff in so you'll hardly have to make tough decisions on what to take with you to a mission. I hope it has a better companion system like what FO2 had. Things became a lot easier when you had 3 other people at your back. Overall I'm looking forward to this, it looks like it's going to be one of those "what -insert previous game here- should've been" games.
