If you have the PC version you can use console commands or a mod to revive him. Also, if you download Broken Steel you can take the Puppies! perk which spawns a dogmeat puppy at vault 101 each time your dog dies.

If you have the PC version, type resurrect 6a772 to bring him back to life. Also, type setessential 6a772 1 to make dogmeat unkillable (he will be knocked out instead of killed). Oh yeah, you open the console by hitting the ~ key.

Good news for me. I love Dogmeat as well, but usually find myself leaving him behind if I know I have a battle coming up, for fear of losing him.

i forget which one, but a DLC pack has a perk in which you get dog meat puppies, each puppy has double the HP of dogmeat so they die harder, and i believe there is an infinite amount of puppies you can have

There is a perk you can take if you have the new-ish DLC Broken Steel. Its called Puppies! The DLC is only for Xbox 360 and PC though.

Not exactly. If dogmeat dies, then a new dogmeat gets spawned outside vault 101

If you are a PC, you can just hack it. 360, you just need a perk.

If you have the DLC (can't remember which) there's a level up skill that means his puppy appears outside Vault 101 whnever the dog dies, but if you don't have that or the PC version, Dogmeat ain't coming back. Sorry guy. He's cute and all, but he's not all that useful once you have the unique weapons and are pretty far into the game.

I would imagine it would be the same case as the dog you get in Oblivion (Shivering Isles?). If they die, they die.
