The Fallout games give us the ability to live out our fantasy as our chosen brand of Post Apocolyptic badass.

Whether you choose to play a smooth talking, cap dealing rouge who doesn't know a mine from a brahmin-pie or a neanderthal living battleship in power armor the game never fails to deliver a fulfilling experiance.

So I ask you, how do you roleplay in Fallout?

In Fallout 3, I played as a Brotherhood Star Paladin, wielding the Gauss rifle and shock sword in accord. My tagged skills were energy weapons, big guns, and melee weapons.

However, my New Vegas character was much more interesting.

Name: Paxton (Real Name: Unknown)
Birthplace: California
Age: 32
Hair: White
Eyes: Blue
Features: A bullet sized dent in his right temple.(1)
Faction: House
Disposition: Lawful Neutral
Paxton was born to the de-facto leaders of a small settlement. His mother was an ex-NCR Ranger who first taught him how to survive in the wasteland while his Follower educated father taught him how to thrive.

Paxton was a very plucky lad, picking fights with the other children and usually winning, and then taking advantage of the less than stellar intelligence of the other adults to weasle his way out. Even though she was a Ranger, Paxton feared the retribution of his farther ten fold to that of his mother, as while his body was hard enough to stand her idea of corporal punishment, his father always knew what to say to undermine his fragile ego and leave him in the dredges of self loathing.

One would do ill to cast his parents ans being cruel, as in reality they lover him very much. His father would teach him maths and sciences of increasing difficulties in all fields, as wells as teaching him Spanish, Latin, and the dialects of local feral tribes. His mother taugh him to hunt, track, and skin, while also instructing him on how to hide when he became the hunted. It would not be inaccurate that the two were grooming the boy for great things, but that rise to greatness would cost all of them greatly.

When Paxton was 17, he and a few of the other young men of the village returned to their settlement to find that it has been occupied by raiders, and the remains, as is often the case for these things, were not pretty. The children were subjected to horrid sights of fathers having their innards strewn around the village and mothers and sweethearts being raped by every raider and their dog, literally.

Needless to say, their was a panic, with some wanting to run to the NCR and others so blinded by grief and fury as to dare a headlong suicide attack. Paxton, being the scion of tactical experts both on the battlefield and in the laboratory, quickly disregarded both of these ineffective option and instead ordered the rowdy boys into an impromptu militia. The raiders were fierce in battle and were many, but were easily scattered when accurate volley after volley of hidden fire from rifle armed assailant. Paxton had set the boy up so as to fool the raiders into think some were many.

But what followed was even more harrowing. He found his home burnt to cinders and his mother decapitated on the steps, rifle in hand. He took solace in the fact that she went down fighting. His father, however, was no where to be seen, and he assumed that he was so much ash in the wind.

The attack spelled the end for the small settlement nad the survivors went their separate ways, with our hero planning to sigh on with the NCR.

Paxton did not find it hard to stand out from all the green boys and girls who the NCR attracted to their ranks. He was soon took notice of and was recruited into the rangers, where he distinguished himself as an expert marksman with his mothers rifle, the Medicine Stick, and natural tactician. To this end, he put on the front lines of the NCR's expansion east were he further set himself apart from even the veteran rangers in sheer tenacity, taking on entire enemy camps by his lonesome. The amazing thing was, not all of these camps were eliminated of all human life. A good majority of them were actually talked into surrendering by Paxton. It was only inevitable that he be inducted into the veteran rangers, the youngest to ever achieve the feat at the tender age of 26 after serving just nine years in the military.

(No details available, but it is rumored that he changed his name to Paxton shortly after this event, possible to avoid justice by the NCR. Speculated that he did more to cover his tracks, possible by removing his name from the registrar completely and silencing those who knew him personally. The event is somehow tied to his acquirement of a rare and modified Range Sequoia(2))

Shortly after being employed for House, the Followers record being given a large sum of caps to preform extensive cybernetic surgery on Paxton (3).

Special Bowie Knife (Blood Nap)
Modified(2) Special .45 Handgun (Light in Shinning Darkness)
Modified(2) Ranger Veteran's Sequoia
His Mother's Special Modified(2) Brush Gun (Medicine Stick)
Modified(2) Riot Shotgun
Special Modified(2) Grenade Rifle (Thump-Thump)

Sorry that was so long, if anyone knows how I can break that up into spoilers, please tell me. Also, apologies if I unknowingly broke any lore with that origins story.

I would love to here some things about your characters as well! What do they wear, what do they wield, where do they come from, pretty much any details you would like to disclose!

Also, please critique my writing if you feel the need. I am trying to get better.

EDIT: Almost forgot about the random numbers! Those are mods that make these things possible in the game. For example, you cannot modify A Light In Shining Darkness because it is unique, but with the right mods, it makes it possible.

(1) The genox here race
(2) WMX Weapon Mods Extended
(3) Project Nevada

Anyway, I have a whole damn liveblog featuring my Fallout 3 character's adventures in both the Capital Wasteland and the Mojave--yeah, I've taken some liberties with the story for my own purposes. Basically, she's a fiery little twelve year old that's taken on the worst post apocalyptia has to offer and come out on top. The liveblog is NSFW and I won't link it here or in my profile. :p
