Fallout +Skyrim= ?

Being a Fallout fan and looking forward to the new Elder Scrolls, I was thinking about what engine the next Fallout would be built upon. This came to my mind because both Fallout 3 and New Vegas shared the same engine as Oblivion (because they are all Bethesda owned, I know). I?m sure some have thought about this but it sounds like it would be amazing. Any thoughts?

I don't see why they wouldn't. They are releasing mod tools with Skyrim so its not as if they are trying to keep the engine top secret so they can reuse it and still have be an untouchable paragon of awesome.

If they don't make it, a Skyrim modder will.

The MMO is being (or wanted to be) made by Interplay who are currently (this was a long time ago, but I haven't heard news of it finishing) in a legal battle with Bethesda over the rights to Fallout.

When Interplay sold the Fallout IP to Bethesda they did so on the grounds that they would still have the rights to the Fallout MMO so if one were to come along, Bethesda wouldn't be involved.

The new engine does look amazing, the heavily modified GameBro they use now is ok, it gets the job done and can look amazing. lets just hope we don't go even further into the Uncanny Vally with character modeling, we don't wand Heavy Rain esk freaky unblinking children haunting our dreams for the next generation. imagine a Heavy Rain Uncanny vally Goul, jumping into you face. BAM nightmarish stuff

I dunno, how pretty can you really make a brown desert?

They need to set it in a different wasteland, like the tundra of Alaska, maybe? A white desert is at least a slight step away from a brown desert. Plus there's a lot of fun things you can do with ice.

I say we get 2 new Elder scrolls before the next Fallout, then Fallout can get the new engine.

I remember when Bethesda said they didn't want to be just 'that developer that makes The Elder Scrolls'. My heart sank, because that's exactly what I want them to be. All Elder Scrolls, all day every day.

Skyrim looks awesome.

if they do use the same engine they are using for Skyrim then i look forward to what the guns will be like, because lets face it, the guns in fallout were not exactly good (aesthetically or realism-wise)

I would... you know... keep them away from actually constructing the mechanics though.

I don't know about that. If they don't have direct control over the implementation of their ideas and concepts, they won't be quite right. If there's one thing they shouldn't be left to handle, it's the bug testing.
