Did you know that irradiated cats have 18 half-lives?
Lies Schrodinger's cat is dead.

On topic GOG.com has the original games for 5.99 ea. They had all of them for like 10$ a few weeks back but deals come and go like the wind.

Fallout 1 should have had a stricter time limit and should have made it take longer to do the "good" version of the quest, but shouldn't have had the game end if you happened to fail your primary quest. It's the only thing that kept it from being the perfect example of how to competently do morality and long term consequences in a game.

I really need to play through Fallout: New Vegas, considering I have downloaded all 3 DLC, yet haven't even played 1...

EDIT: I have only played Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Is it worth buying Fallout off Steam? You know, the one that was released in 1997. Is it a fun game to play? How different is it from the ones I have played?

A Fallout topic about anything Fallout, eh? Nice.

So...in whichever Fallout game, old or new, what was your favorite fight and/or kill?

The point is as the title says to talk about anything Fallout. There is no specific topic to talk about so feel free to say anything.
At first I read that as "the point is to talk like we were in a fallout game". I was dissapointed.

On the other hand, this is a pretty interesting topic.

Also, in Vegas, you can turn the slow mo stuff off.

I would probably have to say storming the Cathedral in Fallout. Plus the hall of terror right before the Master. Favorite kill, though... I'd have to go with the Overseer at the very end of Fallout.

Even though New Vegas has better stuff, I still liked Fallout 3 better. The reason was because the idea of the Fallout series was that it was a nuclear apocalypse. In Fallout 3, you could spend most of your time exploring empty wastes, bombed neighborhoods, and creepy subway tunnels. You could go for over an hour before spotting another living thing (and even then it's a 5% chance that the living thing feels like not killing you). Fallout 3 gives the impression that all of society has completely stopped giving a shit and the only humans left alive are assholes, more tolerable assholes, and murderous psychopaths. Fallout New Vegas felt like I was playing an old west game with the occasional laser rifle.

It's pretty much a completely different game. It's turn based and your skills have a much greater impact on the game than 3 or Vegas. Many different ways to play it but if you don't like isometric style gameplay, you probably won't like it. I recommend getting it off of Good Old Games though, it's cheaper and it's DRM-free.

Edit: Oh yeah, and the Steam version isn't optimized for Windows. You'll still have to do some fixing in order for it work with your computer. GOG version on the other hand works up to Windows 7.

I was playing Fallout 3 wandering through interior D.C. and out of nowhere a whole shit load of super mutants and Brotherhood come out of damn nowhere. The fight was epic and shit was exploding everywhere. I should have sworn the entire thing was entirely scripted.

The Fallout 2 RNG is bullshit.
That is all.
And yet it's still the best Fallout IMO; though I am no fan of Fallout 3.
Personally, I haven't made it very far. When I have a 44% chance to hit and I miss 10, (yes I counted) 10 fucking times in a row I call bullshit and give up.

Why the fuck would they release New Vegas when it's unplayable?

For me, it's hard to play favorites. Too many good times. Right now, I will name three from Fallout 2.

So, I was a Deathclaw nest at one time, or several times, filled with adult Deathclaws. Of course, how many get in on the fight at once depends on how far away the fight is. In my time of Fallout 2, I discovered that the head of Deathclaws were weak and that a sledgehammer could knock them back prone. In this turn-based combat, I guaranteed almost never getting hurt by hammer-swinging at their heads and leading them back so that they didn't have the AP to strike. You can't do this in Fallout 3 and up of course. The new generation made the Deathclaw scary again...

I'm sure by now everyone who's heard enough about Fallout knows about the Solar Scorcher in Fallout 2, which you can obtain with a little time travel. One of my favorite ways to kill something in Fallout 2 is to take my nigh-infinite-shot ray gun and zap things with it. I love the sound people make as they fall in half like that. I love how Floater gasbags pop and ignite. I love how this weapon has a long range, low AP cost, and takes nothing to load so long as it's light out. So much fun there.

Another fun kill is the Flamers. You see, I love Flamers. They weigh a shit-ton, and their ammo is also hella-weighty, but they have a lovely redeeming quality even AFTER you take into account their ammo consumption. They make targets do the Happy Fire Dance. You burn up someone in Fallout 2, and he starts dancing around, wiggling and jiggling, until they fall to the ground. That is so entertaining to watch.

The time I took my Fatman and shot it inside Ceaser's tent... Ahh, good times.
