Yup. The game is entirely made out of choices. You'd end up with a bland shooter film because all the pop culture and movie references would have to be cut out, and there is no way to make your own film star.

Well I belive that the rights were bought by some dudes. (Can't remember the article)

I belive that the actual name Fallout has already been taken by some shitty film where an american astronought battles Russian Cosmonaughts. (I'm serious)

That sound you hear right now is me dragging my feet and screaming no.

Don't do that to the game. Game to film adaptations are almost always bad, and a blight on the honor of both mediums.

Nope. Lots of post-apocalyptic films about, many of which influenced Fallout.
Focus on making good games.
It'll probably get made regardless.

It may bullshit it if they did Fallout 3's plot - so it would have to be another Fallout plotline - cowritten by F3's scriptwriters? Another wastelander's journey.

well, if they could make it a bestseller, then hells yeah... but sadly, it would more likely be a flop. as someone else who i can't be bothered quoting said, there is the director cocking-it-up factor, and if the film did poorly, then it could spell shame for the rest of the franchise. Just look what happened to tomb raider after the movies!

I think it would be good as a movie if they go with the content and not try to go with the games story lines. If they have super mutants, Brotherhood of Steel, Enclave, and all that but not go with the characters from the game (or at least not all of them, a couple of cameos would be good.) But if they try and make a movie going with the games' plots, it would be terrible.

I think i hav a great idea to make a good fallout movie, first things first have you ever seen the movie 11:14? you take a few specific events in the wastland and adapt them to diff peoples perspectivs, that way you dont need to stick with any in depth char type you could have good guys and bad guys interacting with each other the way they would in the game you could also do anything you wanted with the story and tie it in some how the key is base the movie more on events of the wastland and not so much on main char i would not hire hollywood writers to do any of the story hav the people who did the story line of the game do the move that way it does not take away from the game at all.

Fallout could work as a movie-premise. None of the games are direct sequals to the other ones, so the movie isn't forced to include any specific characters. This means that it's harder to disappoint us, fans. Fallout would work really good as a movie.

If I could choose, I would create a movie about The Masters fall and rise. He is the most interesting character of the whole series in my opinion. The story of Richard Moreau/Grey. His adventures with a young trader named Harold. Who is the second interesting character in the series in my opinion.

I agree in the sense of a lame director and producer ruining the movie all together. What do you guys think of John Hillcoat directing the movie..He just did the movie the road not to long ago..I loved the scenery in the movie. Plot wasnt weak either.

I would love to see such a movie. Especially since...the main character has no pre-conceived notions on who should play him...or her! Since it was a character that could be either gender or any line of thinking and the game played to it, Fallout as a movie would be awesome.

But make sure it retains the humor.

It should be based on Van Buren in that case. That's the only way I see it happening well. Anyone who knows what Van Buren is would most likely be competent enough to make it well (if they had a budget, which I doubt they would), and they'd be totally flipping off Fallout 3 at the same time and that annoying overgrown child they have working on it.
Everybody was always telling me what the die-hard Fallout 1 and 2 fans were like, but up until now I haven't seen any; just fans of the series as a whole.
