It's Fallout: Equestria. Longer than The Lord of the Rings, it has effectively spawned its own sub-fandom by combining the eponymous Fallout series with the runaway hit cartoon show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

The strange thing is --- it actually works, too. Scarily so. This is not a pony tale you want the little ones to read; it is graphic, dark and brutal where appropriate to the theme, often more so than the original Fallout itself.

In fact, it works so well that there are now dozens of spin-off fanfics, some of which have garnered over 200,000 unique chapter reads --- good enough to earn a serious contract with just about any real-world publisher, barring the inevitable Bethesda/Hasbro cease-and-desist.

Beyond the fanfics, fan art, and tribute YouTube videos (full disclosure: here's mine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rRnBkGHc_U ), there are even mods for the actual games based on the story such as the revolver Li'l Macintosh ( http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=43934 )and the Zebra Carbine ( http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=16184 ).

The only reason at this point no one's done a full-mod conversion of Fallout to My Little Pony, it seems, is because of the insane amount of modeling and animation work it would take to put the game's protagonist on four legs. Count your lucky rainbows...

EDIT: That has not apparently stopped anyone from recreating the story's main characters in Garry's Mod, however ( http://d4shth3r4inb0w.deviantart.com/art/Fallout-Equestria-Model-Pack-271048194 ).

Interesting, but when it comes to Pony Fandom, I'm more interested in the music.

Right here: http://fallout-equestria.com/media/1/4

My own FO:E fanvideo (linked in the original post above) uses Miracle of Sound's amazing "Wasteland Soul" single. Both he and the author of FO:E have commented favorably on it, so it might be worth your time.

Oh yeah, this is a good read. The author manages to weave elements from every fallout and every DLC. They actually improved on some of the plot points that pissed me off in FO3. And it has less typos and grammatical errors than I've seen in some published works. I think the author had at least three proofreaders, so that probably helped there.

I need to get back into it, I fell off somewhere around chapter 42.

Yep, I read it all the way through a few months ago. Very good read, but it still has its flaws. The rate that Kkat pumped out those thick chapters was astonishing.

Also, this is an advertisement for your videos. I ain't clickin' a single link.

Well, that shows me you didn't bother to read much before leaping to conclusions --- 'specially since you pluralized the singular.

Of five links, three are to game mods by other people, one is to the original story, and one is to a single fan video of mine.

Ta!
