Do you guys have any traditions that are limited to your family?

I am having easter this weekend and it got me thinking about this tradition my family has for easter. basically we all get together at this park outside of town for a barbeque and play french cricket. Well my understanding it that traditionally people would role easter eggs down a hill? is that true? anyway at this park i have been going to every year for as long as i can remember the hill is about a meter high so not really a hill. So our easter tradition is to throw our eggs and bunnies etc at a camera man while we line up on the hill.

So do you guys have any family traditions that would seem wierd from an outsiders perspective?

Well for Easter, we eat chocolate and play Talisman or other geeky board games with the family. That's about it really.

My family watches a movie while we eat dinner on the weekend. I don't really care about this tradition anymore and would rather watch TV by myself instead of movies with the family.

My Dad's side for Christmas dinner either orders Chinese take-out or pizza every single year. Its much better than 'get drunk and yell at Football games and each other' Day. I think the rest of the US calls it Thanksgiving.

The closest thing I have is my boyfriend's family's tradition of feeding a new baby a piece of lemon. I actually can't wait to potentially be a part of that one. Also, I think said boyfriend and I have developed a tradition of attending the Toronto Blue Jays home opener. Other than that, there are no traditions anymore. Bah.

My family has a habit of naming their sons, that are not the eldest, after the father's brother.
For example. I am named after my uncle. Who was in turn named after his uncle (My great-uncle) who was named after his uncle (who had a different last name but still) and my nephew is named after me.
He's only 3 but Thor V is already living up to the name by destroying everything he can get his hands on.

We also have a tradition of all being freakishly tall. I've joked we should see if we can make it into the book of world records. The shortest female on my dad's side is 6'3" the shortest male is my cousin who is 6'5".

On a more 'annual' type tradition everyone goes to my parents farm for the 4th of july. EVERYONE. My brother's (i have no sisters) bring their wives, their kids, and their wives' parents and if their wives have siblings their siblings families come to.

It's fucking pandemonium. It's something like 40 people.
