My family is long-time Dutch, but they originally immigrated here from Switzerland, and from France before that. My great-great-great-etc parents on my mother's side went to Switzerland along with Napoleon Bonaparte himself, back when he was conquering Europe.

My family has a curse.

Whenever we go on holiday, there is about a 10-25% chance that a massive disaster will happen.

However, the family member(s) will survive - its just that people around them die instead.

My dad goes to America - massive tornado hits

My sister goes to Russia - 2 Russian planes fall out of the sky

Me (yay!) go to Cornwall - big floods destroying buildings hundreds of years old.

My aunt - goes to Sri Lanka, Boxing Day 2004. Anyone remember what happened then?

My ancestor - huge earthquake in Chilie means that he loses all his posessions and is forced to migrate back to Scotland.

In my direct line dating back to my great-grandmother (Can't be sure before then) I'm the only member of my family to have not had a child before 20.

I'm also the only generation of my family to have not served in the armed forces.
(This WILL change when they let me join up sometime in 2012 though)

Usually someone dies.

And my mom and dad are the only one's in each family to just have 1 child.
