Fanboys and PC Elitism

I'm pretty sure it's because Pc rarely gets exclusives anymore. We used to be the grand base for indie games, where people had a chance to play something different, and it could only be found on pc. But with consoles eating up that market too, it's leaving pc players frustrated with the fact that we're being put as second best.
Basically, like this "Well it's popular on pc now, so let's put it on console now that it's worthy".

Not that I'm saying this is what actually happens, but when you're angry at everything being ruined by ports, your mind tends to think like this.
And no one can ***** about how all games should be shared, and it's selfish to hold onto a game for one specific platform. We all love our exclusives, it what helps define who we are, I used to be a proud playstation gamer over xbox, because of the excellant exclusives it offered me for being a part of their service. It was build specifically for the playstation. now there's more xbox exclusives, and it's not because of power or reason, it's only because microsoft pays them to make them as exclusives for them.

Fucking microsoft. Well the xbox department anyway.

Which made me laugh, because Minecraft had an awful community to begin with.

OP: Gamers kind of suck as people, by and large. I'm not even a cynic who says that people suck in general. In general, I find most people to be decent. But gamers just...kind of suck regardless of their platform of choice.

I'm just against Mojang undertaking this unquestionably huge project NOW and snuffing out ALL hopes of Minecraft ever being properly "released". I don't know if that matters to people, but it peeves me. Minecraft (for the PC) DESERVES to be launched. It shouldn't be a buggy Beta for it's entire lifetime. It DESERVES better.

Because the 11/11/11 release date doesn't mean anything now? When did that happen?

And Mojang has said that they'd still be doing content updates post-"release" so that date is an arbitrary thing anyways. It's not like anything is really going to change, except maybe we'll have a final version somewhere down the line so every time there's an update we don't have to re-download all our mods and texture packs. But even so that won't be for a while after its official release, given their pledge to continue updating.

It's not ported by them, it's third party.
That said, MineCraft is a prime example of Indie and PC development e.g. do whatever the hell you want and getting financed while still in Alpha, try out new ideas, iterate and reiterate etc.
Microsoft doesn't even allow free major Updates on their console, nor could a game like MineCraft have thrived on there, they kind of shove all "Indies" in a corner and tell them to stay behind the line and mind their effing business. It's not a very friendly environment for indie developers...
I guess that might be why they are pissed, now that it's "cool" and apparently "profitable" it's going to the consoles I guess.

Ahh Thanks! I don't know how to take all of that, tbh. I guess there's so little information out, there's very little point in saying anything. But I WILL say that, even if I HAD an Xbox, I wouldn't give two shits about the Xbox version.

Because the PS3 is harder to program for than Xbox and there isn't a big company making it.

I can side with PC elitists with their claim that a decent PC is better than the current gen consoles. It's a bad thing that games are being made to work with 5 year old hardware since that limits the graphics we see on PC. However if a game is made for PC then they port it to console I must ask. What the fuck is the problem? The game's made and optimized for the superior system, now it's being downgraded to spread the joy. Is that a bad thing?
Still console fanboys are just as bad. Final Fantasy for Xbox was a huge betrayal because every Final Fantasy game has been a Sony exclusive, this is if we don't count the 6 good ones made for NES and SNES and the countless remakes and spin-offs. Console fanboys don't want anyone who doesn't have their console to enjoy things. They badmouth noobs and those who got different consoles just as much. Also how many "discussions" haven't we seen on "What is the best console?"

The same thing goes for console gamers vs PC gamers. Console gamers who see another console gamer who is a douche will think he's a douche. A PC gamer who sees a PC console gamer who is a douche will say all console gamers are douches.
The world, and especially the internet, and even more accurately tech or game forums, will be filled with jerks. Jerks are those who shout the loudest and the ones you will notice. Learn to live with it and ignore it.

PC gamers get treated like shit, half the games they get can literally be called hand-me-downs (that's literally what a port is), while the other half is stitched by grandma and will get you laughed at for eternity if you're in middle school.

Most PC gamers don't argue if more than one console should get the game, but they ARE wondering why they have to be the ones that get the smallest room when their PC makes enough heat to fry itself without proper air flow.

To explain the rage, this means millions of cock&ball (hey Yahtzee said it) combinations, plenty of swastikas/bestiality spam (See 360 custom emblems from BlackOps), and an outright crap-shoot of little kid swimming through the forums wanting to know ALL of the recipes, when in reality Minecraft is more about exploration and experimentation.

Oh yeah, and although Notch said it's a different development team, it doesn't take 2 brain cells to know they're not going to update the PC version until release, IF they even have a release.

I'm rather curious how it's going to work given XBL seems to only allow companies to update their game once for free.

I'm not. ZP didn't even occur to me. The thread on the Minecraft forums just spurred this because over the past couple months there has been so much console hate (See the multiple DNF threads) and the Minecraft thing was just the straw that broke the camel's back for me.

I'm not trying to attack PC Gaming (I do game on my PC as well as my console), but the whole Master Race notion is just really tiring.

I meant that the elitists are a minority PC gamers, the majority of whom are a reasonable anf intelligent community.
(Including myself, as a PC/PS3 Gamer).

The 360 port is being handled by a different team, and the games will run on different servers so the worries of Mojang being tied up in the console development are pointless and the worries of the 360 community "poisoning" the Minecraft community are also pointless. So that means all the complaining is... wait for it... pointless.
It's not like if they ***** loud enough the game will suddenly not be ported.
