There's nothing wrong with having a game you favor over others. There's also nothing wrong not enjoying a game or finding it not up to par compared with another. But I myself find it very irritating when people don't enjoy a game, and go out of their way to try to find ways to make it worse for others.

For me, I run into this every time I view a video about any sort of game or game related item.
Why can't both be good? I understand you like your game SePhIrothxNarutoKawaiiDesu, but can't I enjoy mine?

Actually, that would be "anti-fanboy", the Sith to the fanboys... er... other Sith. What? You think I'd call them Jedi?

In seriousness, I do agree. Live and let live, love and let love. If you don't like something, that doesn't mean other people can't. I don't understand people that don't understand that.

They're called Haters. Don't let them bring you down.

I enjoy games. I enjoy some games more than others. I enjoy some games maybe a bit too much. Would I call myself a Fanboy? Probably maybe. But being a fanboy of something doesn't make me want to put down other gamers for liking something different (Though I sometimes do, but only in jest, I promise!). That's why I'm not a Hater, just probably maybe a fanboy.

Haters are a special breed of fanboy who can't be intent with what they have unless it is better than whatever else is out there. Discussion of games you like should be done with caution when entering the proximity of a Hater, for they are known to latch onto discussions and drain them of all fun and intelligence. If a Hater attempts to express his opinion, it is best to respond "That's nice" and move on. If you're having trouble with a particularly obnoxious hater, simply divert their attention to the nearest Halo thread.

But that doesn't make sense... they all fail...

Well, except for the tame fanboys. I'm one of them for Star Wars, Halo, Metroid, and some other things, but I'm not the fail-type that hates people that don't like what I like.

Taken from Superior Mind's Big Book of Modern-day Steriotypes:

Video Game Fanboy Types

Anti-Fanboy: A person who will be the first to call someone out as being a Fanboy. An Anti-Fanboy will never give their own opinion on anything for fear that they will be cannibalised by Anti-Fanboy bretheren.

Fanboy: A person who thinks a game is good. Sometimes points out the game's positive attributes in order to back up their opinion.

Mega-Fanboy: A person who'll attack you violently if you express an opinion on a game that differs from their own.

Why are we renaming trolls, dammit?

They're nothing but trolls. Don't give them any attention.

arent people who are really really really against fanboys kinda like fanboys?
Actually he was refering to trolls not fanboys. For every fanboy there must be a troll. Then the fanboys start trolling the trolls and become trolls themselves. It is like a zombie apocalypse. The infection has now reached a critical stage where threads trolling trolls are rising up. Soon they will be forced to either starve or devour each other. And then it will be the survivors job to repopulate the interweb. Hopefully they will do a better job next time.

And to any other survivors out there reading this remember: if you see them coming aim for the CPU. That is the only way to stop them.

Goodnight and goodluck

All trolls are idiots, but not all idiots are trolls. Just saying.
