If you're gonna use that logic, why do people have anime avatars? Or Doctor Who avatars?
I have no fucking clue. When I prowl the Civilization Fanatics forums, I use a Civilization 4 avatar. Over at Politicsforum.org, I had a particularly humorous Bob Dole avatar. If I'm on an Evangelion forum, and not using a sock puppet, I'll use an Evangelion avatar. If I am using a sock puppet, I'll use a picture of a muppet as my avatar.

Regardless, dragging foreign avatars into random forums usually isn't a problem. There's a whole ONE person on the Minecraft forums with an Evangelion avatar? Not too annoying. Bronies, however... god damn. Do you need to turn every forum into a Brony Pride Parade?

Those don't have anything to do with "gaming", so why are they okay and I'm not?
I never said they were okay, but if you must know, it's because people with Doctor Who avatars don't make up 1/3rd of the entire community. Similarly, you get a pass for now because your Brony breathren aren't unleashing a plague of pony art on this particular forum.
To make you happy, I changed my avatar to be Celestia if she was Leona from League of Legends.

Now it's at least somewhat game related.

Fans of any genre of music that let it take over their lives.

Seriously. You listen to MF Doom? Cool. That don't make you a real OG.

In the UK we had this big movement of scene, emo, metal kids, e.t.c, who were all so proud of themselves because they were 'individual' and 'non-conformist.' Please. They were all just following the leader like the rest of the country, but their leader wore guyliner.
Rule of thumb to be accepted as a younger person in Britain at the moment disgusts me. Find a genre of music (or a football club) that you like, find people who don't like it, make their life hell. Long live Britannia. So fucking glad I'm old enough to see how dumb we all were back then now.
Im late to the party but this is true. My town had some kinda goth shop open in the town centre think they called it Fiendish or something. Hordes of em lurking having competitions with themselves about who was more depressing and had the most depressing life. I agree with you they wasnt "individual" because they still followed a particular cliche like mindless sheep.

Then chavs would show up and it would turn into a warzone. No violence or anything because they were mainly small game, all gob and not alot else etc. It got old fast with them groups bickering all the time.

It was the same old Goth vs Chav thing.

In the end the shop closed because the keeper got sick of all the aggro. He lost count of how many times he had to fork out for new windows. Shame cos the owner was a pretty decent bloke and the shop also made a change from the 10millionth (is that even a word?!) fast food joint opening in town.

Wow, I'm surprised no-one has said this yet, but...

Motherfucking Classic Fallout fans.
They just absolutely shun with an intense hatred, anything that is not the original game. A good portion of them don't even like Fallout 2, even though the games both look and act the same! Why? Because those fans don't like the fact that there are so many Easter Eggs in it. You would not believe the revile those people have for Fallout: Tactics and Fallout 3.

As once brilliantly stated, "Over the years, the Fallout community has been gradually distilled and refined into glittering gems of hatred.".
There are fans of the newer fallouts who act just like that towards fans of the older fallouts.

I went looking at videos of fallout 1 and 2 on youtube, and nearly everyone one of them had hate comments from fans of fallout 3/new vegas.

Sonic fans too. I really like the Sonic games but there's a reason the fandom is infamous around the internet *shudders*

In fact here's a fun game; go onto Google images and type in '[your first name] the hedgehog' and just marvel at the pieces of art before you >_>

I'm sorry, but that's just a really lame example of someone "shoving it" into other people's faces.

It's a damned avatar, it's something people want to represent themselves with, be it characters from video games, movies, a kind of logo, whatever.

Why does it matter to you if someone wants it to be a pony? I don't see ANY way an avatar can be considered someone's way of forcing their hobby onto others.

There are people ruining every fandom I like. It's almost inevitable that there are some annoying faggots and elitist assholes that happen to like any one thing you also happen to like.

I apologize if somebody already mentioned this, but Kingdom Hearts. The first two games were amazing action RPGs that defined a majority of my PS2's playtime. I personally prefer the second one, but there are defenders and haters on both sides.

I have no problem with that. What I have a problem with are the ludicrous amounts of fanfickers, shippers, yaois, etc. who give fans a bad name. Look, I love Kingdom Hearts. If it weren't for the fact that it is kind of kiddish, I swear that I would totally go to conventions for it. But these people, plus the aforementioned kiddish fact, keep me from being able to say I love the games without getting some weird looks.

Also, I feel that every time that I talk about Kingdom Hearts I should mention this: if one more stupid handheld spin-off comes out after Dream Drop, I will lose my last bit of faith in the series. Just one true sequel. Is that too much to ask? It's not like Kingdom Hearts is so obscure that they'd be taking a risk with a console sequel. Plus, with the rumors of Versus XIII being cancelled, why don't they just go ahead and announce it. Pretty please?

Also, an HD rerelease on PS3 would be nice, considering my copy of the first one is scratched beyond repair and I can't find the second game.

I don't typically communicate much with fans of things I like unless they nearby in real life. But occasionally, there are some cases...

Sonic the Hedgehog. I used to kind of like the games. In fact, I'm probably a lot more forgiving of Sonic Heroes and Sonic Unleashed (yes, I liked night stages) than most people are. But the fanbase has pretty much ruined my desire to play any Sonic game released in the last two or three years with their obnoxiously vocal stupidity. And it's not even the terrible fanart or shipping wars that piss me off. Remember Spax? Yeah, I'll just leave it at that.

The other fanbase I have some issues with is Smash Bros fans. Particularly, the ones who keep bitching about how much better Melee was than Brawl (or how Smash Bros Melee is the greatest time EVAR!). I get it, guys; you're upset that instead of another competitive accident, Brawl wound up being a game that they tried to make accessible to a wider audience. And I will admit, the balance of Brawl is a bit off in some stages. But I'd rather be able to use characters I like to use than having them suck. I don't care if Marth or Snake is supposedly the best character; I want to be able to fight with Kirby and Toon Link. And don't even get me started on items. Nutshell: Competitive players hate them, I'm fine playing with or without them but have a little more fun with them. Smash Bros is just not a game I take as seriously as some do.

Every game I've ever liked. Also, Star Wars. Star Wars has too many irate fans who like to tell you about how irate they are.

Nightwish. No, stop. I don't care about your pathetic, delusional six page diatribe against Anette. No, I don't want to see your weird Tarja-based haiku. You are creepy and I just want to listen to Nightwish. But no, for some reason both can't exist in the same world.

Bronies.

1. You're not going to wither away and die simply because half the fanbase gets off on this show. Get the fuck over it.

2. A character was altered due to a shitstorm YOU caused. Get the fuck over it.

3. Two characters (Heartstrings and Time Turner) have names that aren't the ones you picked for them. GET! THE! FUCK! OVER! IT!

Sorry for the yelling, but Bronies have got to be the second whiniest fanbase in the world.
Excuse me if I'm wrong, but I've watched a few of your videos and... don't you dislike MLP? The point of this thread was to complain about fandoms you're a part of. I'm not chastising you or anything, but I'm kind of confused.

50 years went by and nobody shipped Captain America with Iron Man. One movie comes out and half of Tumblr put them together. Drives me freaking insane why people have this need to ship relationships which are 99.9% unlikely to happen.

While I am a brony but there are aspect of the fandom I do hate which is mainly the fanfic writers and this is excluding the already weird fanfic out there.

I just hate the fanfic out there that just twist and turn the current informations to that writer liking, in another word not close to being canon like at all. Example- they forget that Celestria was reluctant to banish Luna to the moon and that information was mention in the lore at the start of episode 1!!

I just take the show for what it is at face valve and with no hidden agenda that some people supposely try to find deep within the show.

By all mean I ain't saying they should stop those sort of fanfic since after all, I hate it therefore I am not going to look it up and read it (I ignore it).

The entire FGC. Just all of it.
Especially SRK.

MvC3 in it's entirety. Honestly, if the game would let you pick the same character more than once in normal play we would see nothing but Weskers with the occasional Dante, Wolverine or Vergil.

Fallout 1/2 or nothing elitists

Pokemon Gen elitist jackasses

"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAH MELEE WAS MOAR HARDCORE" cry babies (Smash Bros. is what sparked my dislike for tourneys)
