I don't know if you guys have heard about the Phoenix Wright Musical project or "Turnabout Musical". A bunch of fans got together and started writing it back in 2007, and apparently it just got licensed by Capcom. And unlike the Japanese musical, this one's supposedly true to the first game. I've seen some articles and interviews about if on some other game sites. Any plans for The Escapist to do a feature on this? I really wish we had more information about it. The creators of the project are keeping pretty mum.

Anyway, here's their recently released demo reel if you haven't heard it: http://www.4shared.com/audio/HvWXdGU8/DemoReel.html

So what do you guys think about this? Lame or awesome? And does Capcom licensing this open the door for future fan projects to get recognition?

Good job on the fans if it is true

A link to something official would be nice though!

I dont really know the details since I'm not "in" on the project. Just a fan! But supposedly one of the admins let slip the name of the Capcom contact, and then her name was in the AAI booklet when it was released. And they were featured on court-records.net and their info is usually pretty legit.

There's the article some French gaming site did on them too: http://megalomaniacalme.net/pwmusical/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1378

That sounds pretty cool

IF TRUE

However a lot of these games companies can be very dickish so it wouldn't surprise me if they put the block on it

Well according to them, it was Capcom who contacted them about it. So they're not putting a block on it or they would've already done so.

I think it's pretty awesome, but even more awesome is the potential this has for future fan projects. If this one makes it big, game companies might start reconsider next time they decide to shut a fan project down.

As soon as I see something more... official I'll buy it 100%. You'll have to forgive my caution, my hope has been dashed before. Staying true to the first game? Licensed by CAPCOM? Sounds too good to be true, hope I'm wrong.

If it's a fan thing I don't mind, if the company had made it I might have flown over there to slap the CEO. Admittedly I wouldn't care either way since I never really got into Phoenix Wright. Don't let Mr. ARPG here interrupt you guys, I'll just be sitting here twiddling my thumbs if you need me.

..... wow.

That amazing. Most people would have gotten slapped with a lawsuit, but an official license?!?! CAPCOM I'm impressed!

Well, their info's everywhere. Court-records.net, that french gaming site, TVTropes: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/PhoenixWrightMusicalProject , and a bunch of other places.

I just don't see why they'd lie about a license from Capcom, especially since it might get Capcom's REAL attention and get them shut down...
