Okay, now I know people are just going to say, "Well, what did you expect?" but hear me out.

A few days ago I was reading fan fiction (not THAT kind) for a book series I like (if you know me you should be able to guess), and some of it was pretty well written. People inserting themselves into the story, creating new characters, blah blah blah. Then I read a story about a crossover between the book series and Harry Potter. Part of the story is from Hermione's point of view, and the author (a woman) decided to have her fall for DRACO MALFOY. That was around the point I stopped reading, because it got creepy, and also it made me think.

Draco is SUCH an unlikable character that I can't believe ANY fan girl would think he could be an object of romantic interest. I can understand girls (or guys for that matter) writing romantic plots for likable characters, or even things that might not be described as a character, but why write about characters who are bratty, boring, evil, etc.

To each their own I guess, but are their any characters that have a fan base which surprised you my fellow Escapists?

To be honest, I wouldn't be supprised if there was some sort of cult following for Tim The Fucking Enchanter by this point, and I think (I hope, anyway) you'll find that most other people are the same.

Of COURSE there's a Tim cult. That doesn't surprise me, as the amount of people IN that cult may be exactly as many as there are Monty Python fans. So, big surprise there, right? Now me...I'd be kind of irritated to learn if Dr. Smith (Lost in Space) gets the same treatment.

Well, when I say Tim The Enchanter Cult, I'm not really talking fandom, I'm talking "I WANT TO DO HIM BAD HE IS SO HOT HE IS HOTTER THEN DRACO!!!!!!1!"

P.S. I looked. Google Images, safesearch off - 2nd row of page 2, 5 pictures from the left. I'm fucking serious, look it up.
I am actualy suprised. Holy shit.

And then, you learn that in no way do I desire to know what you have uncovered. Some things are best left out in the cold.

Yes. To be a seaker of truth is a dangerous thing... At least, to most.

I'll refer you to the 'Draco in Leather Pants' trope, which came about because somebody wrote an apparently good fanfic that painted Draco in a sympathetic light.

Kaiden Alenko's fanbase surprised me. I thought he was the blandest, most effortless character attempt I've come across since I grew up enough to care about such things.
