They picked their words very carefully. You could have driven a truck through through the holes in the statement.kiri2tsubasa said:I was under the impression the Sony confirmed that there was no always on.
"Playstation 4 can still be enjoyed old school without an Internet connection at all" was the quote from Michael Dennykiri2tsubasa said:I was under the impression the Sony confirmed that there was no always on.
I would like to point to the quote that Covarr has so kindly fetched for us:Big_Boss_Mantis said:They really couldn't buy that kind of publicity, could they?
They should be sending money to Micro$hit for doing all their work for them.
Sony has made lots of stupid decisions in the past. They surely have. I was there, I saw it, I have felt the pain.
Still, this is too good of an oportunity for them to miss. All they have to do is NOTHING. Nothing and then people will be jumping ship from the Xbox up, down and sideways.
M$hit were even stupid enough to not manage backwards compatibility, wich could persuade their consumers to stay, if only for their libraries...
Only an unreal amount of dumbness would make them waste this opportunity.
As it stands, next generation is Sony's game to lose.
I think the only ace in the hole for MiCRAPsoft is that they are going to sell the Xbone dirt cheap, on a contract, like a cell phone, and get sales from people that don't know better what they are getting into...
P.S.: I am spilling a lot of hate for Microsoft... I am kind of a Sony fanboy, but i try to do not let that cloud my judgement. I like Nintendos games a lot too. I just think that hating on Microsoft isn't fanboyism. It's just good sense.
Seriously could people stop saying "Sony will probably do it too!". No their not, they have publically stated they wont have an online requirement or any anti used game system on the PS4 nor support it. That's not to say EA wont do something themselves in their games, but it won't be supported by Sony. Which in contrast to the XBone where Microsoft not only supports it but encourages and wants it to be done.Covarr said:Shuhei Yoshida said:Did we consider it? No, we didn't consider it. The main reason being that many countries don't have robust Internet connections. It makes sense for people to have internet connections to play online games, but for offline games there are many countries that we saw do not really have robust Internet.
If you've played Playstation All Stars then you know that he is the devil. That souplex of his is devastating, that f*cking fan is evil, and that Level Two super! >.<Capitano Segnaposto said:Wait, what is wrong with sackboy?Neronium said:Mainly because I think that's where they keep Kratos and Sackboy.
I mean, look at that cute face. You can't say that cute face deserves to be thrown into the pits of hell!
That gives me the feeling that Sony has 2 plans laid out. Stall with PR bull until MS finally tells us all the details of their DRM nightmare, then follow them if the think they can get away with it or go with a more lenient system and get more sales.Capitano Segnaposto said:My guess is that they are waiting for Microsoft to fully confirm their stance on the Online-Authentification and Used Game Sales issue. Once they do, they will most likely come out and say, "You know how Microsoft is basically bum-fucking you? Yea, well we are not going to do that!"
They will get a ton of good PR and an increase of sales, compared to Xbox One.

If Sony does the COMPLETE OPPOSITE of Xbox One, I will buy their system, and I was an Xbox 360-only gamer last console generation.
I doubt it. Apart from anything else, if they were also planning it, then MS going the same route is essentially a free win from both of them, if both consoles did it then they wouldn't lose many fans (how many PC guys are worried that they don't have the ability to play a modern used game at all?), there would be no alternative, except for the Wii U, PC does it and their closest rivals do it. All aboard the gravy train.crimson sickle2 said:I guessing they actually did go ahead with the DRM idea, but after seeing the Xbone and hearing the fans, they're now scrambling to change it. The reason they can't confirm or deny their stance is because their machine isn't DRM free, yet. If they did go ahead with anti-consumer/retailer practices at a time like this, I foresee every PC companies' stock increasing, other than Microsoft's.
This was my thought exactly, and this approach (if it does in fact turn out to be the case) is flippin brilliant on Sony's part.Capitano Segnaposto said:My guess is that they are waiting for Microsoft to fully confirm their stance on the Online-Authentification and Used Game Sales issue.
