Civil War in the morning, outdoor fun, if sunny, afterwards and global destruction just before tea time. BETTER NOT TOUCH MY RICH TEA!! Love that biscuit.

Fanboys. Fanboys never changes. The difference between a fanboy and fangirl are quite clear. Fangirls overhype about the IP they love, enjoying each and every moment of it. Everything is bright and beautiful. Fanboys love their favourite IP but hold it to a very high and strong standard. If it's not correct in a particular way, rebellion arises. Anger enrages and grows ugly and cold with phrases often used to describe their hurt. "They raped my childhood", is one.

So now that we cleared that up, lets do this.

Hey, Grace. I can detect your frustration and your opinion is warranted in some way. If you wish to discuss the video, you can. The reason why I have linked it, is because the question itself is pretty evident. Has the "fans versus the industry" heat about to reach it's boiling point.

You may be thinking, "Para, what the fuck are you talking about?" and "Does Para have that nice sexy black ass with the smooth Denzel voice?" The latter is of course, yes but the former I shall explain.

Have you all noticed their has been some tension between studios (whether it's movies, gaming, books, music, sports, porn and TV) and the fans that take in what is produced?

Before The Force Awakens came out, there was a small selected "hardcore GG fanboys" who wanted everyone (really?) to boycott the film. Why? Because the expanded universe was not canon. A petition was even created. Why? I have zero raging clues. $1 billion later and Disney/Lucasfilms really did feel the pain their when those fans refused to give them money.

Mass Effect... EA... You know what, that alone will just generate a nice and healthy discussion.

Okay, let's get to the point, Para. Both fans and the industry they adore can be pretty nasty towards one another as well as work well together but is that relationship reaching boiling point with the industry not understanding what the fans love and need AND some fans demanding too much and expecting so much from something they love.

Are the fans and industry just as bad as one another?

Batman kills, Batman doesn't kill, Batman kills, Batman doesn't kill. Batman should kill within reason.

The word that I think will be used here is Entitlement.

Is the difference some sex/gender-based bullshit that implies that one group is demonstrably worse than the other?

Because, I certainly hope we're not doing that...

Oh, we are doing that. Yeah, those "definitions" completely and utterly wrong. And, sexist/genderist. Congratulations.

informalderogatory
a male fan, especially one who is obsessive about movies, comic books, or science fiction.

fan?girl
ˈfanɡərl/
noun

The only difference is that boy is male, and girl is female. Shocking! I know.

Fanboys are just as capable as of being "bright and beautiful", and Fangirls are just as capable of using the phrase "raped my childhood".
So now that we cleared that up, lets do this.
Yeah... Only half of that "we" is clear on this.

You may be thinking, "Para, what the fuck are you talking about?"
Are you a wizard?

Obviously. However, that word is meaningless on its own. What you are missing, but seem to be implying, is whether that Entitlement is legitimate, or there is a false sense of Entitlement.

Of your examples, I can only comment on Mass Effect. ME1 was marketed as a game where all your decisions were important and would matter. Since that's what's being offered, the audience have a legitimate entitlement to get that. When I played ME2, I saw it was obvious that EA wasn't going to be able to deliver, since all of the choices made in ME1 resulting in little more than some random person nodding to me, saying "Sup, you remember the time we did that thing at that place? Good times." And, because of that (and other reasons), I walked away from the franchise with disgust. So, I was able to watch the whole ME3 brouhaha from a safe distance, enjoying my popcorn.

I aim to please and succeed. First time I've been called sexist, I think. Honoured. Plus that was my wild definition which of course is a hyperbole.
