Have you ever played a demo that kicked ass, that was so fun that you played through it numerous times?

So far I've played two game demos fitting this description. Recently, I loaded up the demo of Vanquish, and it was actually really fun. I would play through it again right now if I had time. I would pick the full game up if only it were longer, as reviews say that it takes between four and six hours to complete.

The other demo, the best demo I've ever played, was the demo of Devil May Cry that came with the Playstation 2 release of Resident Evil: Code Veronica X. That demo was so awesome that if my anticipation for the game's release physically manifested, it could have been seen from Neptune.

Ever played a very promising demo?

I played through Splinter Cell Convictions demo several times. Before the game came out it was really fun to experiment with the new Splinter Cell system and see how I could move through the environments and use the new abilities.

Must have played through it almost ten times.

The Darksiders demo was awesome. And quite long, too.

It's not a terrific game, but the demo they put out a few weeks after I beat the game really gives you an idea of what the game is all about.

And that's what demos are supposed to do.

So, going by the standards of demos doing what they are supposed to, the Darksiders demo was great. And that makes the Brutal Legend demo bad, for fooling you.

[sub]That's right, I did play a demo of a game that I already owned and beat. I play EVERY demo, though. Never know what might surprise you.[/sub]

I just played the Mafia 2 demo and enjoyed it, even though it costs 1.2 GB and, like, an hour to download.

I've completed the Conviction demo more than anyone should have. It was really good, that demo.

Also, I'm currently enamoured with The Force Unleashed 2 demo. Not that different from the first game, but the controls are so much better.

I actually really enjoyed the demo for Wet, but didn't get the game because of mediocre reviews. Limbo had a great demo, mainly because if you didn't buy the game after the way the demo ended, you hate children. I just played the Super Meat Boy demo and promptly bought the game, because it kicked all sorts of ass. The demos for Batman:AA and Bioshock were also awesome.
Although I owned the game already, the Mass Effect 2 demo must have been awesome because you can continue from where you are after you buy the game (decisions and all).
Edit: Oh, and Splinter Cell: Conviction has a great demo. Didn't convince me to buy the game, but it was still a lot of fun.

Don't let that stop you too much. The game has rather high replay value.

Enough for me to beat it 3 times before finally starting New Vegas.

I have no life, so I could spare that kind of time.

I played the Dead Rising demo so many times that when I go the actual game, I was already pretty tired of it.
The MGS 3 demo as well was awesome and I played it loads of times. Bought the game and was let down overall.
However I bought the Subsistence version not long ago and that is one of my favourite games ever.

The demo for Vanquish is the only demo to ever make me pre-order a game. I always wait for reviews, in-game videos, user feedback etc, before I part with my cash. Even excellent looking sequels to excellent games sit on the shelves and wait while I research them post-launch. But the Vanquish demo was so exciting and fantastic that I didn't want to wait any longer than necessary for the full thing, so I pre-ordered and never regretted it.

As for the game's short length: it'll last you a lot longer than the 7ish hour first playthrough, as missions are divided into many short "acts" that be replayed at your will with any difficulty you like, and since you're scored and graded on your performance (and your scores uploaded to online leaderboards) it doesn't get old.

The Okami demo was great with levels showing off a ton of the gameplay and art.
The Sonic Adventure demo on Dreamcast shown in game stores was also iconic to me.

Dark Void's demo pretty much sold me on the game.

Then I saw the storyline.

If only they'd had more money. I could have gotten a complete game.

Quake Wars was the last demo I played loads. Brought it out a weekish before the game and I played it solidly for that week, it is a rather good game as well, wish it held my attention for longer.
