Actually how does Fox have the rights to Deadpool? I thought they only had Fantastic Four and X-Men. Is it just because Deadpool is semi related to Wolverine?
Deadpool is a mutant so that makes him automatically under Fox's belt.

So, it's like a full-length equivalent to seeing "Galactus" in Rise of the Silver Surfer... Got it...

Other than that, the only thing I hate the most about this movie is the thought of what it could have been in general...

Quality > Quantity

I'd rather have one Guardians of the Galaxy than two Fant4stick

Also, aren't all of those movies you mentioned being made by Marvel as part of Phase 3?
My post previous post

"I don't get this whole we want Disney to be the only one to make Marvel films because if Disney did do you think with at most 2-3 films a year we would ever have had a GotG or Antman film? let alone Dr Strange, Captain Marvel, Black Panther and Inhumans?"

I said that in response to those who wished Marvel never sold the Spiderman, x-men and FF film rights.

Because if Marvel/Disney did have those rights we wouldn't have got a GotG, Dr Strange, Captain Marvel, Black Panther and Inhumans solo films as Marvel/Disney would have the very popular Spiderman, X-men as well as FF (there not popular).

Marvel/Disney did try to get the FF rights and when they couldn't they picked the GotG as there cosmic characters for instance.

Deadpool is not, nor ever has been a mutant.

Fox has Deadpool because they have the rights to nearly all characters who first appeared in a comic related to the X-men.

I did not know that was the reason they keep releasing these. Wow. I mean at least give some budding script writers and directors a chance at it, not poop it out like a chore!
Anyone remember that Mad Max film that happened in this year? Yeah, just reminding you that films are still, and can be goodish ;) in fact, someone reminded me earlier today of that particular example. However, they allegedly haven't seen Independence Day, so I had no choice but to remove them from their Earthly chains, as only quantum lizard sloths from venus have not seen that film!

As I expected the critical hate is thick but as I actually saw the movie tonight I know it was perfectly fine, a completely average movie....an that's it's problem; the average superhero film no longer holds a candle to Marvel's cineverse anymore.

So yeah, FF was fun, but nowhere near Ant-Man level fun for sure, and definitely better than the last two FF movies. I'd actually be interested in seeing a sequel, although what would be better would be for Marvel to recover the movie rights.

Dear Fox:

Deadpool will be your last chance. Either you make that movie good, or I will find some way to sell ALL of your Comic licenses back to Marvel for a penny. Clearly, that's what they're worth to you.

That's riiiight, I forgot about that. He was born human, and they gave him a healing factor in Weapon-X to save him from cancer.
Yeah, Deadpool is what is called a Mutate. Someone who was born without the X-Gene, but was able to acquire mutant abilities through scientific methods.

Well now Roger Corman can say he made a much less awful FF movie for exactly the same reason and a fraction of the budget!

I mean, at least Corman's effort slides into the 'so bad its good' category

Having just come from the theater a few hours ago, I feel the need to sit down and record my thoughts for posterity's sake. Now before I go on I feel the need to preface this, if nothing else to show how this movie has affected me: I DON'T hate this movie. In fact, I find this movie to be one of the most fascinating pieces of art I have seen in a long time. And yes I did say art. What this movie is is a fucking murder mystery that of cinematic effort that fails at every possible point, and it is up to us to find out who done it. The writing: garbage. The characters: flat. The direction: boring and lifeless. The villain: less than one-dimensional. What this movie is a profound train wreck that could not be recreated even if someone were to try... and let me tell you, no one "tried" this time around. Right now I am giddy just at the prospect of going and all philosophical on a piece of cinematic horseshit and just asking, "How? How is this thing possible?" Honestly, I have no idea who is ultimately to blame, though I will be damned if Josh Trank thinks he can send out a tweet and wash his hands of this. Did studio execs meddle? Almost certainly, but if even they had went and added a giant goddamn spider for literally no reason at all, that doesn't excuse the fact that none of the characters have any chemistry, that doesn't excuse the fact that some of the writing is truly offensive intellectually ("The biochemistry is off the charts!"), and that doesn't excuse the fact that Doom's motivations can be summed up as "I hate the world, therefore I should destroy it!" I mean people give the MCU for shitty villains, but this is next level shittiness. Whatever level of mediocrity this movie was hoping to coast by on in the first two-thirds are immediately ground in dust and snorted up by that Mass Effect husk looking ************. Oh and in case you don't think he looks like a husk, just look at this design.

Honestly, I have gone on long enough. This movie will be a black mark on the careers of everyone involved and while some may recover, some careers are irreparably fucked forever.

To the point that he can make a tragic and to some points even sympathetic... erm, 'hero'. When the writers don't just use him as a gag or a medium for pop culture references. Which is unfortunately most of the time.

Kinda miss the 'I now realize I've never experienced happiness. I put on a good show, but I simply don't know the meaning of the word and I never will' Deadpool.

OT: I'm honestly not that surprised, I hadn't even heard about it until somebody was posting critic reactions to it. I wonder how it feels to be a fan of the Fantastic Four? Will they ever get a get movie.

Exactly this. Why make it so badly, when there's this big pile of money waiting for a good production? Only reason for such a terrible movie is FOX wanting to hurt the franchise, and hurt Marvel. There's no way they'd be that petty though.

...They wouldn't, would they?

Well, F4 comics arent exaclty hot sellers theese days, and as mentioned before Marvel still has the merch rights so theres none of that going around either.

And at this time it looks like the movie is going to rake in less than a quarter of its production budget at the box office, so any future attempts at a movie to keep F4 out of Marvels hands by Fox is going to be nothing short of petty.

Speaking of which, rumor has it theres a sequel coming in 2017.

Don't doubt just how petty corporate culture can get. There's a rumor that Hideo Kojima and his entire branch at Konami were torn apart because Kojima made a crack about the size of one of the higher ups junk.

What is it with the Fantastic Four that makes them just sit around and do nothing with their powers in their movies? Is it really that hard to make them go rescue people from a fire or stop a bank robbery or something?
Remember, Fantastic Four has the glory and honour of naming the trope [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ReedRichardsIsUseless] for describing characters with incredible powers and technology and not doing anything with them until something equally incredible or more so shows up.

The movie that everyone thought was going to be terrible turned out to actually be terrible.

So, now that it's agreed that this movie universally sucks, are we allowed to agree that having Michael B. Jordan play Johnny Storm was just cynical pandering to the identity obsessed press or do we still have to pretend that this is some sort of great triumph for social equality. Because man, if it's the later then I would demand another attempt or something.

Seriously ? Is that an actual line ?
100% true. That is right up there with "The neutrinos have mutated."
Christ, I knew it would be trash, but I had no idea it would be that bad.

I really hope this doesn't make that much money.

I'd say that it has less to do with being 'progressive' or whatever (regardless of the somewhat lamentable lack of good non-white-male-led superhero films out at the moment) and more due to nepotism on the part of Josh Trank because Michael B. Jordan was also in Chronicle. After all, Johhny Storm was at the forefront of most of the posters and trailers; it's not as if they made it a secret that Johnny's Trank's favourite.

Anyway, I don't think even quality acting could have saved this film. It was hobbled from the beginning due to Fox wanting a film as cheap as possible so as to keep the rights, to hell with quality.

That said, why didn't Fox want this to succeed? Surely the reason one keeps rights is to be able to make quality products that make money. However, due to their lack of effort, this film has made FF basically a poisoned property in the eyes of the public for years now; the brand is useless. They probably can't even make any money out of it by selling it back to Marvel, because Marvel can charge whatever it likes due to this bomb of a film, and I'm sure Fox won't be making a profit in the end.

Oh well. That's business, I guess.
