DK is free? Cool, can I get a link?
http://www.gog.com/gamecard/dungeon_keeper

Actually it seems that it isnt as free as i expected and cost 6$ (actually i dont know what determines for something to suddendly become free, i do know that Tyrian at least is free) However, i see the reviews mention that the GOG version has compatibility issues

If you really want something for free then you can download a compilacion of campaigns that allows you to play not only the campaing of the original game AND the expansion "Deeper Dungeons" but also many fan made campaigns.

Ah, probably it was free for a while at one point. Oh, well. I'll leave it in my wishlist again and just play DK2 in the meantime. Time to bitchslap some imps!

This post is so strangely wonderful.

This example is sadly as bad as any of ridiculous sexualization of women in fighting games, but Vanguard Princess is a pretty fun, free fighting game for the PC.

There's also Cho Ren Sha [http://www2.tky.3web.ne.jp/~yosshin/my_works/download.html], a very solid PC Doujin Shoot em' Up you ought to play.

Of course, if you haven't already played the infamous Yume Nikki, you have to go play it right now.
I mean, the strongest justification for emulation is playing games you wouldn't otherwise have access to, right? Hell, I wouldn't even reccomend emulating most of the great PS1 stuff on PSN, but that still leaves the fan translation of the definitive best version of Tales of Phantasia, Star Ocean: The Second Story (I believe), Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions, Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, Valkyrie Profile and that's just getting started on ONE GENRE. On just the Playstation. No one can even imagine how much people are missing out on because of how limited our "retro" games market is. Emulate, and emulate often.

Daggerfall you can download over at Bethesda's website [http://www.elderscrolls.com/daggerfall/] (also, I believe all Elder Scrolls titles before Morrowind) complete with instructions of how to run it under DOSBox.
actually, just Arena and Daggerfall
both Battlespire and Redguard are still paid
must be noted, though, that only the floppy versions of Arena and Daggerfall were made free, the CD versions that tend to include voice acting, better music, cutscenes and stuff are still paid
I think they're worth it, the boxes for them are really awesome and full of cool things

Why not just buy it? it worth the price and DK1 its the strongest and more atmospheric of the two, and the combat in DK1 its much better than DK2 just because its flows much better and for once you can actually feel the fear of being killed, unlike DK2 where you can solo almost anything with an Imp if you had the patience of doing hit and runs or just plain moving in circles because the hit detection in DK2 works on the principle of just "highlight enemy and attack for 100% acurrate hit" In DK1 its more stat based (sort of like RPG) and if you are going melee on something you better had good reflex of high dexterity or else you will not hit for shit.

Ah yes, I'll buy it, just not now. I'm a bit tight for money at this moment. :( But once that situation is resolved, I'll go through my GOG wishlist. I have 15 items there, some of them just caught my eye and I have to investigate them further, others are just waiting for funding. DK is one of them.

Blender. It's not a game, but for any interested in getting into 3-D design, it's nice to have. It's a freeware 3-D modeling program that works very well. I personally like it better then Maya for a lot of things.

If you're a mecha fan, or more specifically a GUNDAM fan, it's well worth your while to check out Bootfighter Windom XP. [http://mirrormoon.org/projects/windom] (that's the fan translation project with download link, they have permission from the original creator and everything). Gameplay is sort of like Federation vs. ZAFT and Gundam vs. Gundam/Gundam Extreme Versus. There's an updated version with new stages and mechs that requires payment if you're so inclined.

Also, all the mechs are named after an OS (if you can't tell from the title).

Gl-117 is a really good aerial combat simulator for linux. There's also an open version of Tron, possibly called TronGL, which is really really fun.

That is really, really weird. I did not know that. I looked it up and it's indeed abandoneware now. I guess the court action between CD and SK wasn't resolved appropriately.

Oh well, more good free games for everyone.

Oh, right, forgot this game, Vega Strike. Remember that space trading game Yahtzee was talking about making? Yeah, it already existed. http://vegastrike.sourceforge.net/
An update was just released, for the first time in a long time. Seriously, get it and play.
Or play the origional that Vegastrike is based off of and download Wing Commander : Privateer, which is abandonware now. While vegastrike is a nice re-release, its about as buggy as just getting dosbox to run the old Privateer.

Shame escapists, 2 pages and no SCP?
Well I guess its not really that well known.
Let me introduce you to SCP-Containment Breach
Currently in alpha but creepy as hell. There is no victory goal as of yet so the main goal for now is to die after exploring things. It seems that the facility is randomly generated.
The game starts when a system malfunction makes SCP-173 escape while you were cleaning its room.
http://scpcb.wordpress.com/

For those who aren't familiar to SCP, basically its a collection of creepy pasta written like a confidential file would be. The best way to start reading it would be to read the original [http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-173]
