I Work in a shop that sells games and had a representative from EA in the other day to show me clips of the new Godfather game and Sims3. He made me think that EA have not made a single game i have rated better then average in the last few years. This sparked some debate between myself and friends over the best game making company. Personally Ive settled on Valve.

FYI, valve exist because of EA.
What? What does EA possibly have to do with Valve? Valve was created as an independent company, and their only current association with EA is that EA has been publishing xbox ports of their recent, already-completed games. EA wasn't even the first publisher that Valve worked with. I'd be pretty interested to hear your explanation for how Valve wouldn't exist without EA.

I was just read an article recently about EA and Valve being partners and how it's been going well for however long.
I just figured it had been for longer.

I didn't do the research, don't I look like a ninny!
I believe that EA acquired Valve last year, or maybe in 07. Or 06, It was fairly recent.
No. EA did not acquire Valve.

EA is utter junk and has been for about five solid years now (they had an impressive run of sports games in 2004.)
Well, EA doesn't really develop too many games. However, Dead Space was one that they did develop, and I wouldn't consider it utter junk.

As much as I appreciate Paradox's developing efforts such has Hearts of Iron and Europe Universalis, it'd be tough to call them great developers. They are mainly publishers. Publishers of some fine games (Mount & Blade, anyone?), but their developing resume isn't that fantastic.

If I have to pick a certain company, it'd either be Bioware, Blizzard or Squeenix. My personal favorite out of the 3 would be Squeenix, but Blizzard would probably take the win for most. Squeenix scored big and introduce gaming to millions with FF7, Bioware is PC hardcore's favorite, but what Blizzard did was nothing short of incredible. Their achievement is so great, it transcends just gaming history. I believe that one day, their name will be as big a part of our history as AT&T or George W Bush.

But if I don't have to pick a "publishing" developer, I would go with me. Who else make games that I deem perfect? Too bad none of my games ever got out of my head, hehe.
