I was just wondering what guns people tend to use the most in Far Cry 2? My current setup is a flare pistol, sniper rifle and a light machine gun. However I want to know if anyone has come up with a more effective setup?

Haven't played too long, but for now it's a flare pistol, shotgun, and the rocket launcher...and loving every minute!

I've been using a Mac-10, an AK and a PARA. I swap the Mac for the explosives kit when nessasary.

No you.

I had it in my mind... for longer. And there is no point in using anything else at least on hardest difficulty because after noticing you, they always know where you're hiding.

Either Dragunov, Uzi and RPG or AR16, M79 and Flamethrower (for assassination missions and attacking convoys).

My favorite is the silent 6P9 pistol which rocks for stealth headshots, the MGL-140 grenade launcher which is amazing for blowing the crap outta everything and the M-249 SAW LMG for shooting up everything else.

Dragunov, MAC-10 and RPG-7. Honestly, sniping in the game is a bit overpowered and the MAC-10 completely cleans house with anything that gets close enough to make your rifle ineffective. The RPG is great for taking out cars and fuel tanks. I also like to use the SPAS-12 for a change of pace, and the stealth loadout is fun to play around with, even if it's slower and ultimately no more effective to use.

Any AR, then either the Uzi or nade launcher and the Guided RPG or Flamethrower. It might not seem balanced, but it does get effective in hit-and-run tactics, which I use, to do as much damage as possible in as little time as possible.

All sorts of loadouts for me, so I decided to buy the crates so I can switch at my safehouse, but currently I have either an AS50 or AR-16, either a silenced Makarov/IED/M79 launcher - and in the special slot, it's either a Carl G Rocket Launcher/Flamethrower (doesn't last long though)/MORTAR!

God I fucking love the mortar in this game. The sounds are what make it so satisfying.

Same here, but with a silenced makarov instead of a grenade launcher. I might switch it for a Mac 10 soon though, at least until I unlock the assault bandolier.

It's too bad this game has been overshadowed by Fallout 3 so quickly. It really is quite good and I'd love to spend more time with it... I've already got 25 hours spent and I haven't even done a third of the main campaign missions, nor have I seen the bottom half of the map yet. If only it'd come out a few months sooner, or later.
