Farcry 2 weapons

I was in a firefight in farcry 2 when my rifle ran out of ammo since their was still a couple of guys left, i pulled out my pistol to finish them off. but after firing only 2 round the damn gun exploded, just like that it blew up in my hand. at that point the bad guys rushed me and i was screwed. I know this game was trying to be more realistic but does fire arm actually explode in people hand in real life? Does anybody here have firearm experience to confirm this?

They can and will, but only if you do something stupid or irresponsible or are just un-lucky.

Mostly only if you fuck up the barrel/hilt.

You should replace weapons everytime you get close to weapon shop and its okay then. Still jam sometimes.
