My 60gig PS3 croaked about a month ago and after a lot of horsing around with a stubborn customer service it is being replaced. I'm glad I'm getting a new one, but I am gonna miss my trusty BC. I didn't use that much, but when I did it really gave some of the old PS2 games a nice upgrade. God of War 3 looked fantastic and so did Okami and Odin Sphere. But it was Shadow of the Colossus that received the greatest improvement. The game already looked wonderful, but on my PS3 I was able to play it with progressive scan. Wich suddenly made the game run 5 times smoother and look 5 times sharper. Oh well, nothing lasts forever, I guess.

So, to all out there who still have a 60gig, cherish it.

Did you snoop around ebay and Amazon marketplace? Im sure there's exorbitant price-hikes, but if you simply must have one, it's worth a shot. Even try Craigslist. Maybe someone out there doesn't know how valuable that model is.

I bought my 60gig on ebay, paid aprox the same as it used to cost for a new one.
This was a few months ago though, and I don't regret my decision to get it :>
When one buys a product, you want every possible little extra function it has to offer, even if you don't use it.

If you still play a lot of your PS2 games it's really a bummer. But I always try to look a head at the awesome PS3 games like Fumito Ueda's new little griffon game.

Some PS3 models still have BC for the ORIGINAL Playstation, just not the PS2. The Slim though, has NO BC, so I'd avoid that in favor of one of the fat ones, because while they don't have full BC, at least there's some.

As sort of a mini rant:

This is why you don't sell your old system when a new one comes out. Sorry, but so many of my friends have been doing this for years, and I'm the one they come to when they can't get their 360s to play Halo 2 or their Wii to play their gamecube games.
