I recently started working at McDonalds as a cashier and Really enjoy it (being 15 there aren't many jobs available where I live). The people are extremely nice and you generally have something to do so it never becomes intolerably boring. I was wondering if those of you who work or have worked at fast food restaurants (or other minimum wage jobs) have enjoyed the experience.

Never worked fast food. Closest I got was in a pizza restaurant when I was a teenager. The job itself was ok. I liked the people I worked with but wasn't too fond of the bosses. There were three of them. One I just flat didn't like. Pretty sure he felt the same about me. One I enjoyed being around and the other I tolerated. I wound up being a jack of all trades type guy. I bounced between working the dishroom, the various food stations, the registers, etc. I worked there for several years and once I got fed up with the place I activley tried to get fired and they wouldn't do it. Seems I had made myself quite valuable with my knowledge on how to pretty much do everything there. Too bad it never reflected in my paychecks. Oh well, everyone has to start off somewhere and it's usually at the bottom.

Currently working in the catering department at the university down the road from me.

It's pretty fun work and the people are all great, but I think I'd enjoy it more if I was getting more than five hours of sleep a night, and wasn't going to the catering job right after working another job for 9 hours every day.

I've never worked in fast food... the closest thing I had to calling a job was work experience at my local CEX...

That was so awesome we sat around talking about manga, games and playtesting consoles in between doing grunt work.

I've never worked in fast food, but I've worked in a pub kitchen before.

As you say, working in that kind of thing is surprisingly fun once you know what you're doing and get better at it. Theres always someone to talk to/ about, and the banter is great. Luckily, no-one was nasty.

You do hear about chefs being impossible to please or complete assholes, but the chefs I worked with were sound. Unless you got under their feet at a busy time :p

This summer I'm working another full time, minimum wage job in a warehouse, which is less fun. The work is more boring and I dont really have anything in common with the other workers there. Still, it's a job, and the money will keep me going next uni term :D

Never done it, but Iäm sure it would be fun. Also, I'd call them "joints", not restaurants. Unless you use cutlery, it's not a restaurant.
