So, today marked the end of winter break here in Holland and this was to be my first day of school again. After having skipped quite some classes lately I decided to give it my best from now on.

What happened? I woke up tomorrow and noticed that I had overslept because my alarm clock had been reset. And so I missed another day of class. God damn...

So I ask you my fellow Escapists, have you ever had this feeling that fate was out to get you?

When everything just seems to go wrong one day? Yeah I've had that, I'm sure most people have - especially when gaming. Sometimes it just will not work and you lose constantly

Well bad things usually happen all at once for me. But I think it's more to do with my shenanigans than fate.

That's right Shenanigans.

Yes but only when something good happens. I got a free ticket to see Sonata Arctica with a friend, I then just miss three trains, nearly get lost finding the venue but managed to arrive before the second support slot finished.

Congrats OP, you're in a slightly tamer version of Final Destination!
Having escaped fate once, they wouldn't be left alone until tthey were mildly inconvenienced!

And I know your pain, flasks can be a *****.

fate isnt an entity that acts, its the path we follow so saying its out to get you doesnt make sense. It still makes more sense than complaining that you forgot to wake up tomorrow, if one of the classes you missed was english I would suggest trying harder to get there for the next class. I dont intend to be mean, it just happens.

I think it's a mixture of deflected blame and plain old bad luck. None of that 'fate' nonsense.

I've skipped quite a lot of classes so I've decided to stay in no matter what from now on. However, upon deciding this, numerous lessons have been cancelled after me waiting for 2/3 hours. I probably would've known if I went to the lessons prior to them. It's just bad fortune.

That would of sucked a LOT if you missed out on seeing them. I had only heard a few of their songs but have gotten into them recently (I should be getting The Days of Grays tomorrow and maybe Reckoning Night, can't wait) so I'm pretty jealous that you got to see them. I'll find out if they are coming to Australia anytime soon.

EDIT:

I just checked, turns out they played in Brisbane on the 3rd of January 2010 (It's about 1am on the 5th here) and are playing in Melbourne later on tonight. They aren't coming to Adelaide! I'm raging.

Not entirely true. You can make your own decisions, but your decisions are limited with decisions of other people. For example: you decide to go to school and you think it's entirely up to you. But you get hit by a car because a man was driving too fast to get to the hospital because his wife was giving birth. So fate is nothing but a sequence of events that occur everywhere at all time and at the same time some of those events influence your life and your decisions.

That's Karma. Kicking you in the balls for something you probably don't even remember doing.

But something like fate would dictate that even if you'd avoided the man driving his wife to the hospital, someone else would run into you later that day, as if you were destined to get in a car wreck that day.
