So I recently bought a used game from a well known chain that specializes in this (it was a Game, if they have those where you live). When I got home some time later and tried it, the disc couldn't be read. Taking a look at the underside, the reason why became clear- the disc is faulty. Really obviously faulty, which is somewhat baffling because this place claims to check all second hand games for damage.
To get to the punchline, I appear to have lost the receipt. My two questions are:
1) Do you think there's a chance of getting a refund if I make a big enough fuss over this? The manual still has the shop's bar-code on it, so I figure it should come up as one of theirs if they scan it.
2) Failing that, is there a method for fixing faulty discs that works (besides warm water and dish soap, which I already tried)? The disc isn't actually scratched, rather there's this weird shimmering speckled pattern all over it, even on the rim.
