My girlfriend has a faulty copy of Paper Mario 3, which freezes at a certain point during the game. No discernable scratches or anything, it just happens to freeze on a certain level.
If she were to rent the game, get past that particular section and save, would she be able to play subsequent levels using the faulty disc?

For the first point, clean the disc very carefully with a tissue.

For the question, I think that would be an expensive but effective solution.

Is there a disc repair kit for Wii games?

I used to have freezing problems with fallout 3 at certain areas. For example, just after practically completing the incredibly tedious but ultimately very rewarding quest "Agatha's song." All I had to do was leave the vault and fast travel back to her house, but it froze whenever I left the vault. I had to clear some kind of memory something to fix it, but that's on the 360. So just clean the disk I guess. Beyond that I'm stumped.

How would renting the game be expensive? it's only like $6.

When wiping with a tissue don't wipe in a circular motion, instead you should wipe from the center out. Like you're stroking it, if you go in a circle it'll make it worse.

Could be a glitch in the game that needs patching, I'd ask others who have the game and see what they say, could be like when GTA4 didnt want to work... for anyone.

I want to say yes as glitches usually occur only in certain parts of gameplay. But there is always the chance that it's even glitchier past that point. I'd say go for it since at least she'd still be able to play the game a little longer.

Rent it. Swap the disk. Take it back. :p
