Not a hard subject to explain really. What's your favourite basic character class option from the 3rd Generation of Rules for Dungeons and Dragons? And why?
I'd easily have to say Rogue, because of their bonus skill points and extra starting money. They dont get much health or any spells but they come into the game quite well equiped.

Sorcerer. So much more fun to roleplay than a wizard... I love powerful idiot characters, though... and a bumbling, charming fool of a sorcerer usually turns out hilarious. As a DM, I do my best to get such characters in trouble while keeping them alive for further antics.

Yea, Sorcerer's my pick too. They're the chaotic characters who can get away with everything and their spell list is really versatile. Plus they're a blast to roleplay.

Wizard. Not only is their spell list versatile, they can actually use the versatility of their spell list, unlike sorcerers. Also, wizards tend towards lawful, making them better than sorcerers.

Factotum - you can always do everything, and with the right timing and proper build do a lot of things well, too. No matter what you encounter, the factotum is always useful.
