I just recently got an iphone 4S for Xmas. Having upgraded from a POS samsung phone I've been going on an app-downloading craze.

The free games have been a bucket of fun. Jetpack and Tiny Tower have so far been my faves. I tried some of the rpg-ish games and, to put it kindly, they're a bit painful to play.

Anyways, Does anyone have any favorites or good recommendations?

Carcassonne is excellent if you like board/tabletop games and the conversion to the iPhone is excellent. It's about $5 or something, but it is really good.

I love Galaxy on Fire 2. It's not cheap but it's excellent if you want something like Elite on your iPhone.

'Sides that I like Starbase Orion, Ascendancy, League of Evil, Wind-up Knight, Mirror's Edge, Space Miner, GTA3, Angry Birds and the Robot Unicorn Attack games.

Get Infinity Blade I and II. They are both fun finger slashers. They are, in my opinion, the first games to actually use the iPhone's interface in an original and correct way.

There are 1000's of games on the iPhone and plenty that I could recommend. But the list would become way too long. So, I'll just mention the following...

There is a Phoenix Wright port from the Nintendo DS on the iPhone which is awesome, if you like an original adventure detective game.

Square Enix also released a few classic games, like Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger and a few Final Fantasy games.

Gameloft is one of the biggest developers for the iPhone. They tend to copy (rip off) popular franchises, like Call of Duty and World of Warcraft. Even though the games are not original, most are still fun to play.

If you want to know about good games in a specific genre, theme/setting, style or gameplay, I could give a more specific list.

Fruit Ninja is by far my favorite purchase from the App Store. Although I also have the obligatory answers of Angry Birds and Cut the Rope, I have spent most of my iPhone gaming time on Fruit Ninja. It's so simple, and yet so intuitive that sometimes I can sit there and play for a good hour before my arm gets tired.

Go with that, you won't be disappointed.

GTA III. The port to phone controls is really well done once you get used to it. And it's just amazing to think that not too many years ago people bought an entirely new computer just to play this game while I now play it on a device the size of my hand.

Zombie farm (Free) <- God knows how many hours ive lost to this...
Real racing 2 (£3.99) If you like racing games, this has to be the best on the appstore. If you like casual racing games, get Asphalt 6 (£4.99)

(If you know anybody with a ipod/iphonhe) Even if you hate COD as a franchise, The Call of duty world at war zombies app is just superb. Brilliant Co-op.

Angry Birds. I don't care if its popular.
^ This. Angry birds is awesome.

But if you intend on getting serious with your IOS Gaming (Like me XD) You want Galaxy on fire 2 and/or most things made by gameloft.
