Favorite anime, dubbed or otherwise?

What the hell does "dubbed or otherwise" have to do with anything? Well if you insist...

My all-time favourite anime is without Millenium Actress. I call it "the Citizen Kane of anime" only it's much less boring than Citizen Kane. It's really, really fantastic, like everything Satoshi Kon does (Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers, Paranoia Agent, Paprika). But that's a movie so if you want something more TV-series-ish...

My favourite anime TV series is SaiKano. It will rip out your heart and stomp on it. If you've never heard of it then PLEASE take my advice- don't look it up, don't find out anything about it, don't even learn what the english title is. Just download the first episode or get a friend to show you it on DVD while hiding the box and you avert your eyes from the DVD menu until you get to the end of that episode. It will BLOW YOUR MIND. (Unless you hate love stories, you macho, hard-case twat.)

CRITICAL ADDENDUM: ONLY watch SaiKano subbed. The dub is utterly HEINOUS.

My all-favourite dubbed anime, that is, assessed purely on the quality of its dub, is either Cowboy Bebop or Hellsing. Mostly because both are series in which the characters would obviously not be speaking Japanese (especially Hellsing, which is set in England) so it can actually get away with dropping all Japanese elements from the scripts and also have really good performances (especially Crispin Freeman as Alucard). I froth at the mouth every time a series set in a Japanese high school gets a crappy dub where they switch out all the cultural references and replace the honourifics with poorly-conceived english equivalents (word to the wise, translators- there ARE no english equivalents to Japanese honourifics. Either leave the Japanese ones in or don't dub it.)

My favorite anime (and pretty much the only one I really like) is Cowboy Bebop. The plot is good, the characters are deep and intriguing and they all steer clear of typical anime stereotypes.

I also kinda like Hellsing Ultimate just for the total craziness.

Aria the Animation/Natural/Origination. The most perfect slice of life series I've ever watched. Likeable and interesting characters, fascinating setting, beautiful art, slow relaxed pace, episodic without ever dragging on and an emotional finale that makes Origination one of the best things I've ever watched.

Maybe in a more poetic artistic sense, Cowboy Bebop.

For sheer feel-goodiness, Haruhi Suzumiya.

Length of series? And most importantly, does it have a happy ending? Seen far, far too many angsty romance series that have poor endings recently.

Your favorite type of anime that may be Japenese or dubbed in English? Mine for example is Bobobo-Bo Bobo-Bo; just tell your favorite anime and maybe a reason that IS your favorite anime. Bobobo was my favorite just because of how random it was; it went beyond random, it had obvious comedy, so blunt you could knock someone out with it!
As of right now? Durarara.

Of all time? Possibly Cobra. In general.

I'm also quite happy that the person above me seems to know who Akira Kongoh is.

Bobobo, eh? You don't many fans of that anymore.

Sad, really.

Anywho, if we're going dubbed, my favorite would have to be either Cowboy Bebop or Baccano.

On the subbed side, I'd have to say either Monster (even if the manga's better), or Black Jack.

I love all four to death.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Because my god looks better than yours in a bunny suit.
My data entity in a witch costume is better than your god.

OP: Slice of Life, probably Lucky Star or Azudai. Gundam series, 08th MS Team. Cowboy Bebop and FLCL might cover everything else.

Gonna have to go with The Big O. Was the first anime that I had ever seen, and the story to me was really good.
