Simple enough question, What is your favourite arcade game? Like the ones you find in an arcade. Maybe not even your favourite but the one that suckered you to spend the most money on it. A nice explanation would be appreciated, as to why you spent so much time and money on one game.

For me, it has to be the old Simpson?s arcade game, where you could team up and do combo attacks. I spent an entire birthday party playing just that, and got almost to the end before it was time to leave. I was about 10 at the time so that might have had something to do with it, but i think i would still find it fun today

Alien vs Predator, the side scrolling action game where you pummel tons of aliens with crazy weird characters.

Currently: Street Fighter IV, DJ Max Technika, Pop'n Music Adventure

All-Time: Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Mars Matrix, 1941: Counter Attack, Rush 2049: Special Edition, Dance Dance Revolution 4th Mix+, X-Men Arcade, Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara, Virtua Cop 4, Time Crisis, Prop Cycle, Daytona USA 2: Power Edition

Probably not in any specific order. Arcade games are still my favorite method of play, so Im pretty thankful to still have some decent options nearby.

I'd love to find a Street Fighter or a KoF arcade somewhere, but the odds of that are pretty slim nowadays. I still enjoy Tekken sometimes though.

See when I was growing up there were no arcades to go to. Which was a pity as the idea of playing Pacman, spaces invaders and the likes would have been sweet.

Though the games I enjoyed at the local quasar were The Simpsons arcade game the WWF Royal Rumble and Point Blank when I was a little older. Ah the memories!

The old double screen X-men game (style similar to the Simpsons one)

Not only on of the best side scrolling fighters, the voices where even fairly well done. Unheard of in those days. I can still hear Pyro's laugh from right before the boss fight starts.

Close second would be Maximum Force. By no means a 'good' game but it had a crazy amount of bonus stages for a shooter and most of them where fairly fun themselves. Unlike a lot of arcade shooters MF wasn't set on Hard by default so you didn't need to be a sharp shooter to beat it for less then $2. Not that it was by any means easy, I'm sure the fact that i eventually had the spawn points for mobs memorized helped a good deal but it didn't go out of its way to bone you for the sake of your heard earned milk money.

bakaaawq! Boom!

I like all those side scrolling team beat-em up games. The Simpsons, Ninja Turtles, X-Men, etc. If I ever run across those I waste most of my credit/coins on trying to beat the entire game. I love Rhythm based games too. I always play a DDR machine, and I try (and fail) and Pump It Up. I've been looking for more Beatmania games but I can't find any around here. ;-; Oh but I guess I should be putting down my favorites.

Rhythm: Beatmania.
Fighting: Any Street Fighter I can find.
Racing: Right now it's Outrun 2.
Beat em Up: The Simpsons.
Retro: Donkey Kong Jr.
Shooting: House of the Dead III.
