I'd gotta say my favorite book is Dante's Inferno (just Inferno I've yet to the rest of the Divine Comedy, although the first Dune is up there.

And for author its gotta be Lovecraft I've yet to read something of his I didn't absolutey adore. So what literature does the Escapist like?

Stranger in A Strange Land is one of my personal favorites.

If I had to go with author, I'd say Alan Moore.

Favorite author is definitely Kurt Vonnegut, but I love Anthony Burgess too. Favorite books are probably... Cat's Cradle, the Wanting Seed, Phantom Tollbooth, Grapes of Wrath, Slapstick, To the Lighthouse... a lot more.

Well, I'm not a very book-reading/loving person. I do like books, once I get into them, but picking one up and starting to read is hard.

So I don't know. My favorites out of the ones I've read recently would probably be Catcher In The Rye. Of course I liked The Three Musketeers, but I liked Catcher In The Rye more, as it had a more straight-forward plot and a character I could more identify myself with.

Favorite author, of all time? Probably J.R.R Tolkien, or...yeah, I'm really drawing a blank, as I can't remember almost any books I read like...a year ago, and any previous ones from there.

Oh, yeah, I totally forgot my most recent book, Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. I liked that one a lot.

George Orwell is a good author but I won't pretend to be an expert.

My favourite book is probably Lord of the Flies. True excellence. But to be honest I haven't read as much as I'd like.

The Gormenghast series, by Mervyn Peake, is my stuck on a desert island, never allowed another book again pick.

The books I've read the most are the Lord of the Rings series, with Dune and A Wizard of Earthsea in second and third place, respectively.

The most recent books I enjoyed were The Plague, by Camus; Accelerando, by Charles Stross; and House of Leaves, by Mark Z. Danielewski.

My favourite authors are Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman, and my favourite book is... well, I don't feel like picking just one book. So I'll go with the DragonLance Chronicles.

For me, it's the entire Midkemia series by Raymond E. Feist. I loved every single one of them...except for Murder in LaMut. God, that book was so depressingly boring. But that book is like a lump of coal amidst a pile of sparkling diamonds, seriously.

I also love the Gaunt's Ghosts series by Dan Abnett. <3 Warhammer 40K.

And finally The Night Angel Trilogy, by Brent Weeks. All fantastic.

Please tell me someone here has read the Artemis Fowl series, PLEASE!
It's the best series ever.
I have read it, it's not my favourite, that spot is reserved for matthew reilly and his books but they are quite good reads.

I hate you, you ninja'd me, though you should add Trudi Canavan, Eoin Colfer, unfortunate events, hitch hikers guide and the night angel trilogy, though Feist is my favourite.
