The fully upgraded shotgun in BioShock. It shoots 'splosions and electricity. That or the super shotgun in the original Quake. I never understood the shotgun in Half Life. It's a pump action with two barrels? How does that even work? I don't see two barrels in the world model. Oh well, it's a game, and it works really well.

I came here thinking it would be an easy question. Now suddenly I am reminded of so many great shotguns in games.

The Max Payne sawed off had a totally badass feel to it, but the regular pump action is probably my most used gun in the whole game.

The Rainbow 6 3 SPAS-12 is another fine contender.

The L4D auto-shotgun, because no list would be complete without it.

And for sheer destructive power, the Nock Gun from GUN. Because nothing says 'Hello' like taking someone's entire torso away in a single cannonlike blast.

C9 lmg, sexy beast of a gun, takes standard 5.56mm 200 round belts, easy to use and clean, pretty solid metal design other than the plastic fore-grip also accepts standard magazines in a special port.

either that or the c6 gpmg...love how that thing sounds plus its metal and wood with 7.62mm rounds.

both were great toys back in the day, but my c9 was my baby, and i didn't let anyone touch her.

edit: just realized this was about games...uh realistic shooters: m4 with a reflex or acog sight and an under-mounted master-key, i cant think of a problem that cant be solved with one of those.

unreal: the ripper, spinning discs of decapitation that bounce off walls and floors if they miss, alt fire to explode on contact.
