Favorite charity

There is something that just feels good about helping others isn't there? From the hobo on the corner to the giant network of helpers who you are slightly worried are taking some off the top charity is everywhere.

What is your favorite charity? If they have a link please provide it and if you are too stingy or too poor to give just talk about a charity you like even if you didn't give them your money or time.

That said, gimme' your two cents!

I don't really have a charity that I donate to every year, but my job comes around the same time every September with a book full of them and asks you to donate. I usually end up donating to single mother charities (because my mother was one) and abortion charities because back alley "desperation" clinics aren't safe.

I like to donate to St. Judes children hospital when I can, they will treat children even if the family cant pay.

Back when I had more money and fewer bills, I used to donate to Zero Population Growth and these folks(I forget their name) who provided trained monkeys for the wheelchair-bound.

My wife and I have a sponsor child with World Vision, and I wish I could give more to the IJM.

With that whole earthquake in Haiti thing I feel this thread warrants a necro.
If everyone turns their attention to Haiti than all the other places where life is a constant struggle for survival will get neglected and things will get even worse there. Does anyone know where the second worst place in the world is, and of any charities dedicated to it?
