So I just beat HL2 again, and I used my favorite weapon ever: The Clean Sweep.

What is the Clean Sweep? You might ask.

SK_PLR_NUM_PELLETS 1500 (The shotgun fires 1500 pellets per shot).

SK_PLR_DMG_BUCKSHOT 500 (500 damage per pellet).

I'm on my laptop or I'd up the pellet count a little bit. At 5000 it gets close to being a physics weapon.

At any rate, it got me wondering: What are your favorite ways to tweak a game for the giggles?

For discussion's sake: Do you think games you CAN edit in such a manner are better / more fun / offer more for more playthroughs than those that do not?

I kind of think they do, but that's just me. I'll probably post some stories from Command & Conquer Gold and the first Red Alert (Nuclear Spy Dogs FTW) later.

I edited Crysis so that on any difficulty I had 1000000HP, all the suit powers drained at 0.00001% their normal speed, speed mode went 5x the normal speed, and enemies always knew where I was.

Initiate Speed-Godmode.

That game was hilarious.

My favorite would probably be the ones from GTA where the city riots. The pedestrians all grab weapon and just fight to the death everywhere.

Share your techniques, please. This sounds fucking badass.

As for me, my favourite is probably

`
player.additem 0000000f 100000
`

Makes Fallout fun in a different way than normal.
I don't have it installed any more, got low on disc space and hardly played it, but I remember opening up either the... binaries or the settings folder in the install directory, finding the appropriate .ini and editing the values as I saw fit.

That is, I edited them to make the game as easy as possible. Specific technique: Make good values insanely large. Make "delay" or "drain" values miniscule.

They have separate .ini files for each difficulty, so you can edit the hell out of one difficulty while leaving the others intact.

I played enough San Andreas to have R1, R2, L1, X, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up (Weapons and health) Burned into my brain forever. However, the Konami code beats all because it's in so many games it's scary. And awesome.

It was cl_crosshairscale1000 or something like that in CS:S, you could make your crosshairs pinpoint accurate so you could literally cheat online! (Granted every other person cheats on CS:S)

Wasn't that the Rhino in GTA:SA or something along those lines?

Not really a cheat but while I was messing around with my fallout 3 data with the G.E.C.K in an attempt to make children playable (A ten year old beating a super mutant's head in with a baseball bat just appeals to me, okay) I somehow managed to bug up my game so that every adult in the game had a childs head on an adult body. I managed to turn growing up with your father into a living nightmare...

Dad: "I'm your daddy little guy, daddy!"
Me: "gurgle, gaga" (Thats baby talk for "OH MY GOD, WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING?")

Yeah that's actually really easy to do, too. just the wbias for all cars to a negative number, at -9 the cars are insane but run away from you (fairly humorous) but at say -7 they aren't quite as silly

I love the Carmaggeddon in GTA IV, and if I had a decent PC I would buy that game and play it solely for that "feature". Since I don't have a good PC and GTA IV isn't available for Mac, I have to make my own fun in other games.

My favourite cheat code in any game was a team you could unlock in the original Triple Play Baseball. The team had all sorts of interesting characters that messed with the gameplay, animations, or both.

I remember in 1997 I was editing .con files for Duke Nukem 3D. I gave my kick like 1000 damage...every time I kicked something, it would not only instantly die, it would fly across the map like I was Bruce Lee...

I also modified the pipe bomb explosion radius and damage and the freezethrower to do like 999999 damage with 999 ammo... I ended up freezing myself a lot with it xDDD
