This would be easier if there was a clear definition of the cutoff of childhood. Dare I say...childhood's end?

References to Arthur C. Clarke aside, I guess I can define childhood for me as existing between 1989 and 2001, so probably the #1 spot would be taken by Ocarina of Time, with honourable mentions to the following (one per IP):

-Army Men: Sarge's Heroes
-Banjo-Kazooie
-Crash Bandicoot
-GoldenEye
-Golden Sun: The Broken Seal
-Metal Gear Solid
-Mortal Kombat II (or III)
-Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
-Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles
-Spyro the Dragon
-StarCraft
-Star Fox 64
-Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
-Super Mario 64
-Toy Commander

Adventures of Bayou Billy. Fite me.

But as always, the beat em ups are always the ones closest to my heart with the best memories.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Country 2, Mario 64, Blast Corps, MK2 and Killer Instinct get honorable mention. I was kind of an older teen kid getting into MGS, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, and other PS1 classics so those don’t really count to me.

I confess, I'd need to have a Zapper to actually pull it off. Otherwise I get my life bar chipped away before the end of the second rail shooter stage and lose the whip and body armor.
Whatever works. Konami of America went way overboard on the difficulty. I did not know of Bayou Billy until 2002/03. Even then, I did not see footage until Spoony's review and later reviews, speed runs, and walkthroughs on YouTube. I tried playing on emulator; hated the game. Played the Japanese version called Mad City, and had way more fun and managed to beat the game on my first attempt.

Ack, I forgot Actrazor, add that to my list.
OH, also Chrono Trigger and E.V.O. and Kirby Super Star and Cybernator.

Fuck it, just pick like 20 games from this, I don't care which. No sports games besides Ken Griffin Jr.

Childhood game? Game during childhood?! Bruh, my parents were stereotypical Asian tryhards, my childhood was books and studying and/or getting caned, LOL. No time for such luxury as games.

Seriously, though, I bought my first game(s) when I went to university and my collection was a pitiful mess for years. Hell, I remember a class party during highschool and multiplayer Goldeneye 007 and I distinctly recall not knowing what the fuck was happening/what I was supposed to be doing.

The first games I bought and remember fully enjoying were Star Wars - Knights of the Old Republic and Medieval - Total War. Not entirely sure what this all says about me, though.

How 'child' are we talking about here?

If it's literally pre-teen, it was Super Mario Land, Kirby's Dream Land, Super Mario Bros. 3, and Batman '89 on the gameboy. If it's my teens, when I seriously got into gaming, it was Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, Resident Evil 2, Tekken 3, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, and Tomb Raider 2.
