Link to the Past. It launched very early in the SNES' life, but it was considered the #1 game for the console for nearly 5 years. This game is the cornerstone of the franchise; every Zelda game released within the past 18 years has mimicked Link to the Past in some way, shape, or form.

Obviously it depends on what your definition of classic is.
I consider Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie to be the greatest games ever made because of the premise. An action/adventure/platform game where you play a honey bear in yellow shorts with a blue backpack containing his sidekick, who travels through various themed worlds collecting musical notes, puzzle pieces and friendship. I enjoyed the games back then, but looking back on them, I love them all the more because it was around this time that most of the creativity in games began to die off (in my opinion obviously).
The games werent just creative, they were good at being creative. You could fight a giant inflatable dinosaur called Mr. Patch, patch a bucket called Leaky to drain a pool revealing sand castle, rescue the peaceful Jingo natives and fight a series of battles against a bumbling henchman who gradually becomes more vocal about his distaste for the work he does.
Greatest. Game. Ever.
Love. Love. Love. Love it.
