David Cross, Patton Oswalt, Bill Hicks, George Carlin. Just heard David Cross' bigger and blackerer, and am really looking forward to the next Brian Posehn album. I fucking love stand up, I listen to it every day, and genuinly have a deeper passion for good standup than I do to music. Went to see Bill Cosby last January. It's tough to get to these shows when you're under 21 and don't have a car.
Lewis Black is coming to my town in Nov. I might try and get someone to go see it with me.

Personally, it's gotta be that master of the insane, rambling bollocks:- Ross Noble.

Yea, other comedians are up there and are bloody good, but that master of geordie gobbledygook is, just, awesome... I mean, check this video out for the random crap that comes out of his mouth: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnoc7A4FOeY

A word of warning, it's not for the faint hearted. :p

Young Eddie Murphy in Raw and Delirious (his stand up movies). It's a shame that he ruined his adult image with movies like shrek.

Tim Minchin is Pretty good too.

I'm going to assume there was no search here.

Anyways, Lewis Black would be mine. His hand motions and his tone of speaking get me every time. :D
I'm inclined to agree with you there, for the simple fact that he has the most pitch-perfect 'pissed off at the stupidity of others' ranting voice I've ever heard. Him yelling about anything (especially bottled water, milk, protection against nuclear weapons, and politics) always puts me in stitches.

George Carlin, the man invented the rant!

RIP George, your humor is much missed.
Oh dammit. There's my first two gone, so I'm gonna go with a guy very few people have heard of before and say Jeremy Hotz. My personal favorite onstage character of all time. Jim Carrey a decently close 4th.

Sam Kinnison, mainly his sketch about world hunger: "See this?! This is saaaand! And you know what it's gonna be 100 years from now?! IT'S GONNA BE SAND! YOU LIVE IN A FUCKING DESERT! IT'S GONNA BE SAND!" And before he says that "Here's my plan to solve world hunger: Send someone out there with some luggage, some U-Hauls, and we're gonna make ONE TRIP!"

Carlin, then Leary. God there's a lot of Comedy Central people on you're lists, go watch HBO for a few weeks.

It's a four way tie between Larry the Cable Guy, Bill Engvall, Jim Gaffigan, and Brian Regan.

I cannot agree more. He's a funny guy.

Other than him, I'm going to say Demitri Martin. Even though his show on Comedy Central kinda sucked, he bland humor on the stage makes me roll on the floor laughing.
